Large palace complex.
I took a tour, and the tour guide was able to talk about the history and significance of the different parts of this attraction. On its own, it is beautiful, but with the background, you feel more immersed in the culture.
The different parts of the compound are separated by different gates, and I think you can buy different tickets based on this.
Many museum displays within the palace as well as cafes and gift shops.
I do not think that there is an active mosque here, but there did seem to have prayer areas. So check the website for the dress code.

I visited it back in 2023 and the price was way cheaper around 30€. I came back with my family today. Despite being a nice place, there's nothing impressive to see and honestly 45€ is not worth it at all. Not to mention the huge amount of people and queue. Not only outside. Also inside queues to get anywhere. This time they didn't even provide us with a map. A total mess!
I don't honestly know where Turkey wanna get with these prices increase. With the same price I can visit 3 way more famous places in Italy. But if tourists were coming here because everything was cheaper, the situation has changed. And they'll face the consequences.
We went early in the morning at around 8am. The mosque opened at 830am. I would recommend this if you want to beat the rush. We got in before all the tour people. The mosque was empty which made for a better experience and better pictures.

Ps- free of charge
We almost didn’t go because I thought the tickets were expensive but my husband and I LOVED IT! The palace was our favorite part of the old city.

We loved all the beautiful architecture, history, courtyards, stones, and outfits on display. We learned a lot about the Ottoman Empire, the ottoman sultans, and Islam from our time at the palace.

We had a private guide and definitely recommend that over a huge group or going alone. You get to ask more questions and truly appreciate your experience.
40 euro entry fee for tourists is STEEP, but it’s still worth it considering the quality, history and the breadth of things to see. It feels impossible to describe what there is to see in a single review, but all I can say is that I spent almost 5 hours exploring the palace grounds. Breathtaking views (and imagine having these views 200-500 years ago), historical/religious relics, stunning architecture and interior design and rich history with items that even extended beyond the Ottoman Empire.

Tip: BRING GOOD WALKING SHOES
Interested in something related to history- this is one of the places to go to. The fees was average considering other spots of importance, but it did not have any thing special or extra-ordinary. The staff should at least show the historical aspect of the place. If you are on a budget, you can avoid this place and choose binberderik cistern which is cheaper but only accepts card.
One of my favorite places in Istanbul. We only had chance to visit one museum and chose this one. Highly recommended by locals and visitors. A bit expensive but it’s worth every lira. It’s said it holds the biggest Islamic articles collection. Architecture, history, religion, landscapes, mysticism, all in one place.
Visiting the Blue Mosque in Istanbul was an unforgettable experience. The mosque’s stunning architecture, with its six towering minarets and grand domes, is truly a sight to behold. The interior is just as breathtaking, with intricate blue tiles that give the mosque its name, and the beautiful calligraphy and stained glass windows create a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. The courtyard is spacious and serene, perfect for taking in the beauty of the mosque. Whether you’re exploring the history or simply enjoying the architecture, the Blue Mosque is a must-see for anyone visiting Istanbul.
Well preserved palace of the Sultans. It's absolutely huge and contains many interesting exhibits and beautiful gardens. Would suggest getting a guide or going as part of a tour as I think it would be a bit overwhelming otherwise. You certainly need most of a day to see everything.
We went frist thing in the morning. We went stood at the gate 15 minutes before opening, as the tour groups joined behind at that time. Was amazing to see it empty and then turn around 5 mins later to see it so full.

The local guide was very informative, and the space is beautiful.

Typiquement stambouliote

Loved The look of this historical and soul grabbing mosque 🕌 it’s a breath taken point if interested for many trusts, who value the ancient history and respect our ancestors
It is a breathtakingly beautiful place, a must to go! This shows the greatness of the Turks, the Ottoman Empire and how gallantly they ruled the entire world for over 400 years!!! It is simply astonishing to imagine how they build such beautiful, cool, buildings with a superb architecture, design and art work that is even glorious after hundreds of years. One can’t imagine how without the availability of machines they managed to make such infrastructure!!!!
The Islamic relics area need to be entered with body covered, they give clothes/scarfs. Then do take your own water & refreshments which are a bit expensive. Ticket itself is steep price wise 1500 TL BUT worth the experience. Then take an id card for security deposit and they will give you an audio recording of the place as a guide. No need to get a guide the recording is most helpful! Or simply use the cafe’s wifi to load before entering.
The palace takes one’s breath away.
The cistern was built by Roman Emperor Theodosius II (r. 402–450) between 428 and 443 to store water supplied by the Valens Aqueduct. In 2010, the cistern was rediscovered under the building when Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality demolished the annex building. The 360-degree projection system integrated in the cistern’s interior offers the visitors an extraordinary visual and sound experience.
It’s worth the visit, that’s for sure. At least once, to see and feel the almost 500 years of history there. I enjoyed looking at the stones and stairs and imagine the place in the past.

They are renovating it and unfortunately making some slightly changes. It seems fine, but I wish they kept the total originality.

I went on a weekday, in the morning, in August 2024 and there were a good amount of people. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend visiting on a holiday or weekend.

My 4 stars are only due to the fact that you can’t enter with shorts, only pants. Which wouldn’t be a problem in the winter, however with 36°C of summer… very unpractical.

came here by accident but i’m so glad i did enter!! it was a literal dupe of the blue mosque. as a muslim, entry was free and the atmosphere here was so peaceful. i couldnt stop staring in awe of the beauty of ottoman architecture. truly one of the greatest mosques in the world.
To be completely honest it was nothing incredible. The interior was alright in terms of beauty, not really worth waiting in line for. The exterior was beautiful, really nice. The courtyard is a nice place to take a breather as the breeze and shade is really pleasant. I'm not Muslim nor do I really know the history of the Blue Mosque, so this rating/review is my perspective knowing nothing prior.
This place is a wonderful museum if you're interested in Turkey's history and culture.
The panoramic views from the palace to the city and to the Bosphorus are just incredible!

I recommend going very early in the morning or 2 hours before they close it, otherwise you'll have to do long lines for the most relevant salons of the museum.
This was truly a highlight of our trip to Istanbul! A wonderful historic location, even older than the Grand Mosque and without such massive crowds. At the front entrance we met a local guide, Necati, who welcomed us in (no head cover required for my lady) and in his best English gave us a richly detailed tour and escorted us into private areas of the Mosque. Afterward we made a short walk together to a nearby palace ruin, and he made recommendations for the rest of our day. I was happy to oblige his request for donation, after our tour :)

The Theodosius Cistern is a hidden gem in Istanbul, offering a unique blend of ancient history and modern technology. While the cistern itself is a marvel of Byzantine engineering, what truly sets this site apart is the stunning video mapping experience inside.

As you step into the cool, dimly lit space, you are immediately transported back in time. The video mapping show is a captivating journey through the rich history of Istanbul, with vivid projections that bring the ancient walls to life. The show is expertly crafted, blending artistic visuals with historical storytelling in a way that is both educational and mesmerizing.

A special highlight is the segment dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. This portion of the show is a powerful tribute, celebrating the spirit of modern Turkey while respecting its deep historical roots. The combination of music, light, and imagery creates an emotional and immersive experience that resonates deeply with visitors.

Overall, the Theodosius Cistern offers an unforgettable experience that beautifully marries the past and the present. The video mapping adds a dynamic layer to the visit, making it not just a historical site, but a living, breathing part of Istanbul’s cultural heritage. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in history, art, or simply looking for a unique experience in Istanbul.

Yeni Cami in Eminönü is a stunning masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. The intricate tile work and grand domes are truly breathtaking. The atmosphere inside the mosque is serene and peaceful, offering a perfect respite from the bustling streets of Istanbul. The surrounding area is vibrant with markets and street vendors, adding to the overall experience. Whether you're a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply looking for a beautiful place to visit, Yeni Cami is a must-see. Highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning interior and a very welcoming mosque with a great vibe. You can learn about Islam while there. If you’re not dressed appropriately, you can borrow a covering dress and headscarf free of charge. As a woman you can pray in the main area but also in a separate women’s area. We went shortly before prayer time and it wasn’t busy at all.
It is so beautiful! Can you imagine to be there since the 4th century? It is divine! I love it! ❤️🙏🤗
An empty church with access only to the first floor. Construction under going on the celling and the second floor. The view is nice, but overall, it is just a 5 min tour and may not be worth the ticket.
A worth-to-visit byzantine building that was once an orthodox church before converted into a mosque in the Ottoman era. The interior is not as decorated as other mosques, but it's interesting to see some legible Greek inscriptions on the columns. The area is not very crowded while only around 10 minutes walk from the Suleymaniye area
In June 2024 under renovation and really not worth visiting. Just an empty church with one small plaque of information at the entrance and another small plaque inside. Most of it was closed, with a big plain white tent inside and nets blocking the view of the roof.
Expensive at 500tl to enter. Worth visiting for 5 mins if you have the museum pass, but the museum pass is feeling less worthwhile with several of the museums closed for maintenance, and several others only partially opened.
Beautiful little light show filled with Erdogan. Overpriced for such a little show with no history to read. 650 lira for entrance.
Spectacular architecture. It's definitely a must-see. Much of the sections are cardon-off, so accessibilty is limited and short. No line and people are in and out quicliky. Purchased onsite with palace visit.
It was worth the time to come and see this one too. Smaller cistern, but it was less busy.
The presentation was fun to watch. Wish it would show more history.
Stunning. Must see!

The Blue Mosque 1616

It’s stunning a magnificent historic mosque located in Istanbul.

The mosque is renowned for its stunning architecture, featuring a large central dome flanked by several smaller domes and six minarets.

Inside there are over 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles in various tulip designs, and shades of blue, giving the mosque its nickname. Art and words. The walls are adorned with intricate calligraphy of verses from the Quran. The sheer marvel of seeing over 200 stained glass windows leaves you breathless.

Take your time. Allow extra time here - it’s well worth it. It’s a holy place. Very peaceful. I saw many people lay down on the soft carpet - simply lost in meditation. This seemed to be OK. I also, followed suit and surrendered to the beauty .

A very peaceful place .
Beautiful and old church that is sadly very poorly maintained. It will cost you 500 TL to enter or 1500TL with the topikai pass. You can see how little they care for this beauty. The first church of Constantinople. Sadly probably soon gone.

for me, a completely worthwhile visit. maybe the mosque is small, but the history behind is is amazing and the area is very sweet. i loved the cafe next to it as well!!! very kind
A Must go place when in Istanbul, Turkey.

This is an iconic symbol of Turkey. The place is so peaceful so much history to take back. Very spiritual and blissful experience to come here and experience that feeling.

The six minars so beautiful when seen close.
A decent 1-2 hours is the time takes to enjoy this beautiful place.

It is free of entry also for females dress should
Be covered in case if you don’t have any coverings will be provided free at the entrance.
The most beautiful mosque which is also the oldest building in Istanbul. Imam is friendly and spoke lots to my husband giving recommendations of where to visit. He prays beautifully. The mosque is clean, serene and an incredible place to pray in. It is a hidden gem and praying salah here daily made our holiday very special.

One of the beautiful mosque in the area. The architecture is the usual Turkish style that is common in all the historical mosques. The mosque is open for visitors and worshipers so don’t miss the opportunity to visit. Just around the corner is the famous spice bazar and many shops and food outlets.

Beautiful mosque!!! Truly very beautiful. It’s called the new mosque but definitely it’s not New. It’s one of the oldest ones in the city. I recommend visiting it. Make sure you check out the courtyard.
Very nice historic church, however for a long time under restoration. and I did not see any activities.
This beautiful Orthodox church (later converted into a mosque) was a sort of architectural rehearsal for the much larger and more beautiful Hagia Sophia. It should definitely be seen because it is located in a beautiful location near the sea, and in the immediate vicinity there are craft workshops where you can buy interesting jewelry and various trinkets directly from the manufacturer.

Quite small, and probably a little expensive for what it is.

However I really enjoyed the light effects on the columns. Great for taking photos. There is also a gap between the light shows so you can see the columns without any projections.

Visited in the late afternoon, no queues and not very busy inside.
From the outside, the mosque's six minarets and cascading domes dominate the skyline, offering a majestic view, especially at sunset. Inside, the vast prayer hall is illuminated by natural light filtering through over 200 stained glass windows, enhancing the beauty of the intricate Iznik tiles that give the mosque its nickname, "The Blue Mosque."

The interior is breathtaking, with over 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles in various shades of blue, creating a serene and ethereal atmosphere. The exquisite calligraphy adorning the walls and ceilings adds to the spiritual ambiance. Despite being a popular tourist attraction, the mosque remains a place of active worship, which adds to its authentic charm.

Visitors are welcome outside prayer times, and respectful attire is required, with scarves and wraps provided for those who need them. The courtyard, with its beautiful arcades and central fountain, is a peaceful place to sit and reflect on the mosque's grandeur.
Come early in the morning, ideally when it's opening. The light show is nice. The atmosphere is something you should experience. There aren't as many tourists as in the other cistern.
Bel endroit.
The intricate architecture and peaceful atmosphere create a captivating ambiance, inviting visitors to pause and reflect in its tranquil surroundings. Nestled away from the bustling crowds, it provides a peaceful retreat for those seeking a moment of quiet contemplation. With its close proximity to major attractions, including the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, it's a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the rich tapestry of Istanbul's history and culture.

Interesting site to see. Its a small version of Hagia Sophia. Lots of cats outside the compound. Bring cat food. Cannot go inside mosque during my early morning visit. But the compound area can ve accesable. There's several cai & souvenirs shop inside the compound. Do visit to support the locals.

The Little Hagia Sophia is an amazing stop in Istanbul !! Off the beaten path, this little former church, and now mosquee is worth a visit !! Went many, many times, especially for prayers, and never encountered much crowd.
Hagia Irene - Αγία Ειρήνη, is the second most beautiful church in all of Constantinopole after Hagia Sofia. The building is not in great shape and it is a shame it only works as a museum these days, as it can be partially restored and used as an Orthodox Church. Even so, it is a monument dedicated to peace and harmony and it sure brings such emotions to the visitor.
Yeşilay Spor Kulübü Tarihi Yarımada Bisiklet Turu kapsamında gittiğim, manzarası güzel, bakımlı ve nostaljik bir mekan.
The café on the top floor turned out to be much more interesting than the attraction in the basement. I understand that I am a tourist, but the price is too high for a show that lasts only 5 minutes. Moreover, it is worth noting that it is just a projection with music.
From a historical point of view, it is indeed interesting and intriguing. However, I did not see any audio guide or simple brochure in English.
The projection show itself is not bad, but I have seen much better ones, and, more importantly, they did not require payment.
If you are a tourist and money is not a problem for you, and you are very bored, you can go, but if you are saving every lira, it is better to avoid it.

Otherwise it can be purchased separately but at a higher price of course . The ambience in the church was extraordinary..Do visit if you have time on your side..

It's a rather busy place to shop. Go early mornings. Prices outside the Bazaar is cheaper. Still an experience to walk through. If you get offer tasters, take it, no obligation.
The ticket is a bit expensive but it is worthy if you never saw such a middle east palace from ancient empire.

Personally I like the landscape and garden more than the interior part.

The coffee museum in the palace kitchen area is interesting and educative.

Beautiful architecture, colorful displays, mostly friendly people. Things tend to be overpriced in these tourist areas, but it's definitely worth a visit to walk through and enjoy the atmosphere! I was told stall 51 and 44 have better prices, but can't confirm.
Also known as the Spice Bazaar, this place is an absolute feast for the senses. It’s just wonderful to see the workings of such an amazing place. I over the thoughtful way all the stores presented their wares and enjoyed the shopping experience there.

Très beau
Vilken upplevelse att besöka denna moské. Mycket historia samt en fin arkitektur. Arkitekten är Mimar Sinan. Moskén är döpt efter Sultan Süleyman.

The mosque in Istanbul is a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. Structurally, it stands as a magnificent engineering masterpiece, showcasing the architectural brilliance that Istanbul is known for. The grandeur of the mosque is awe-inspiring, with intricate details that reflect its historical significance.

One of the best aspects of visiting this mosque is that it's free to enter, allowing everyone to experience its beauty. The mosque is still actively used for prayer five times a day, making it a living piece of history where visitors can witness the local culture and traditions.

For those planning to visit, it's important to note that there are dress code requirements. Women need to cover their heads, arms, and legs, while men are required to wear pants. This respectful dress code ensures that everyone can appreciate the sacredness of the site.

Overall, this mosque is a true gem in Istanbul, offering both spiritual and architectural value to all who visit.
It is good. You should take off your shoes!
Free entrance. No pay money.
