超美的房間，好吃豐盛的早餐，服務態度非常好👍！ 借了飯店的腳踏車， 騎去downtown 也很近！ 只是檳城交通對腳踏車與行人不是太友善！
值得再訪！

Everything was good till the last morning at the Kin Kao restaurant!

I saw a teenager sneezed in front of the pastry area without wearing mask or covering up his face, I was shocked and the staff who stood there saw it happened but doing nothing!

I asked him whether he is going to do anything about it, I don’t know whether he didn’t understand me or what, he just continued to stand there. I told him to call his manager, but he didn’t. Another lady staff came and said she also saw, so I said with louder voice that they should quickly remove all the food in the pastry area in case other guests consume without knowing!

The mother of the teenager said his son did turn his face away while sneezing, I then asked her can she or her son make sure the discharge didn’t spread to any of the food???

Most importantly, I felt more disappointed with the hygiene awareness of the staff. They should have taken immediate action while the incident happened to safeguard the health of other guests.

Stayed for 4 nights, female 4-bed dorm room
Nice room with AC and clean bathroom.
Fresh towels and small bottle of water each day.

Capsule-type bed with a privacy curtain (curtain is sheer material, so limited privacy)
Mattress is very thin and narrow.
Fleece blanket provided, which is necessary due to the thermostat being set at 22C.
A light and a small fan inside each capsule.
There are storage lockers available. Can fit a 20 inch suitcase and a backpack.
Lockers open and Lock with an electronic wristband.

There is a common shared space with a large fridge, sink, water dispenser, couches, tables and a TV.
The water dispenser is constantly broken and out of water.

Wifi available, great for digital nomads.

There is a small outside pool with showers. The pool water was murky. I swam once and had a skin rash for the next day. This needs attention. I would not recommend swimming here.

Have stayed at many shared rooms in my years of travel, but this place has to be my favourite so far. Apart from the pretty interior aesthetics, the staff here are some of the friendliest people you will meet in Penang. Special shout-out especially to Peter and Pauline who are more than happy to take care of whatever needs you would have, even if it is just a casual conversation with you while you are sitting along the common corridor. Was also lucky enough to have very friendly roommates, with whom I had a lot of funny and chill times chatting late into the night, despire my short stay there.

This hotel has everything which is needed to facilitate a relaxing and wholesome atmosphere to facilitate new friendships and stories to be shared between travellers, before we each move on the our next destination. Will definitely be back again should I find myself travelling solo in Penang in future, and hope to relive similar experiences which make solo travelling and staying shared rooms so fun in the first place, and of course to catch with Peter and Pauline again. Room was dirty, stains everywhere, no soap in the bathroom. Also I forgot an expensive shorts there, I noticed when I moved to another hotel. I went back and they lied that it was not in the room.
Don’t go there!!!!

The hotel is centrally located, the room is very well soundproofed and on my route during my 7-month-long trip to Asia I finally have a really comfortable bed again. I was particularly impressed by the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. I booked two more days just because of the staff. Thank you very much for this pleasant stay and I am sure that the next time I can come to George I will come back here.

Our stay at Island City Hotel was fantastic. William and Baijlesh were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location is excellent, with everything within walking distance. The rooms are quiet and spotlessly clean. We would definitely return!

Pros:
1. Strategic Location: The hotel's location is ideal, making it easy for you and your partner to explore the city on foot.
2. Private Parking: Convenient private parking is available for those arriving by car or motorcycle.
3. Polite and Helpful Staff: The staff are friendly and always ready to assist.

Cons:
1. Room Size vs. Price: The room size is not worth the price, and larger rooms can be found for around RM120 per night.
2. Unpleasant Odor: The room consistently has a strange smell upon entry.
3. Smoky Towel: One of the towels provided had a smoke odor.
4. Limited Pillows: Only two pillows are provided in the room.
5. Leaking Air Conditioner and Water Tap: The air conditioner and water tap are both leaking.
6. Mosquito Problem: The room, especially the bathroom, is infested with mosquitoes. Killing ten results in another ten appearing.
7. Noise Issues: The room is not well insulated against noise.

What I thought would be a pleasant stay turned out to be a disappointment on the last night of my stay.

The air conditioning was malfunctioning since noon and the management was informed about it and still could not fix the issue. I called them to check on the air conditioning after a long day and the issue is still not resolved.

Their solution was to move me to another hotel because they were fully booked. It was almost midnight and it has been a long day and that was the best solution they can come up with. And worst thing is I paid for a 3 star hotel and they want to move me to a 2 star hotel. I don’t see any sincerity in the solution provided. It’s more like a solution to keep you quiet.

In the end didn’t move to the other hotel. Just too tired to pack and move when it’s almost midnight. Just SUFFERED through the warn night in the room. FYI the weather in Penang is hot too. So imagine coming back to a room with no air conditioning.

In summary, this place looks good from the outside but in the end the service provided is a DISAPPOINTMENT.

I recently stayed at Victoria Garden Hotel for a vacation with my partner and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the necessary amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The service was outstanding; the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The location of the hotel is perfect, situated conveniently close to major attractions and transportation. It made exploring the city very easy and convenient. Overall, I highly recommend Victoria Garden Hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Room is Not very clean. Some dust on the windows. Restroom not very clean. Too much restriction on checking out. 1 card for 1 room inconveniences. AC is quiet and cool working well and water pressure is good. Bed is good. Not much noise. Good decoration.

Most hotels in Penang are build on old pre-war buildings, you can't expect squeky clean, ultra modern interiors. Some of the facilities are a bit run down and in need of refurbishments. Small basic rooms but comfy enough for a day or two.
But if you are looking for a hotel thats are walking distance to famous eateries, restaurants, pubs, night markets, covenient stores...this is the hotel you stay.

super tiny portion for one pax n expensive

I don't know if you book a hotel room for their lift/elevator but this hotel has the coolest looking lift lol! Also great hospitality!

The hotel is a lovely place to stay, located in a very lively district with loads of restaurants and bars nearby. The lobby of this old colonial building is just beautiful.
I stayed in one of the basic dorm rooms but was very pleased with it. The mattress is thick enough to get a good nights sleep. The bunk has multiple power outlets (incl. USB and USB-C plugs!) a personal light and even a little fan mounted in the corner.
A fresh towel was provided daily and also a small bottle of water daily.
The 12 man dorm has 1 toilet and 2 showers en-suite which seemed sufficient. Showers had free shampoo and shower gel and very quite large.
The lockers provided were very big and locked electronically. Unlocking was done with a chip bracelet given upon check in.
The staff were all amazingly friendly and always available to give recommendations of where to go or where to eat.
I can highly recommend staying at The Century Boutique Hotel!

The worse hotel I have been stay!!
Worse condition with unreasonable pricing. I book this with RM120/night(after discount price from AGODA). Their room is definitely worth for RM60-RM70 only.

Room condition and environment is much more worse than what you can get from Agoda or their Google Map. Such a misleading information for customer.

Pillow is smelly, Air-conditional is smelly, room condition is poor, table is rusty, plug wiring is broken, wall is broken and leaking, door look is lousy.

I paid full for 2nights and check-in, but I check-out on the same day too! I leave with burning my payment and re-book another hotel!

PLEASE NOT TO BELIEVE ON WHAT YOU SEE FROM THEIR PROVIDED PHOTO. TERRIBLE HOTEL EVER!

The reception staff are very friendly, helpful and I'd have to say the location is perfect for the tourist on foot. The room was clean, no odours and appeared to have been recently refurbished. A/C worked well and was quiet. The TV was directly in front of the bed, but don't expect free-to-air broadcasts, as with most these days internet services are the only options (YouTube for news).

Unfortunately I wouldn't be honest if I didn't deduct stars for housekeeping. The doona had torn/frayed edges and the replacement had one black spot/stain at the top edge (dirty fingers?). There was next to no toilet paper remaining on the roll and it's dispenser is impossible to reach while seated. The toilet flush slowed to the point where it took several minutes to drain but then there was more than just water remaining. To make matters worse, the in-room phone didn't work. The number advertised on the handset called a desk only manned during office hours and when closed it wasn't forwarded to all hours reception. Nonetheless there was no dial tone (room out or reception in) so get dressed and take the lift to reception. When we advised reception that we would like to shower before checking out, they offered to change rooms so they could address the blocked toilet when a plumber was available (before the next booking).

When we were granted another room we immediately checked that the toilet flushed and accepted the room. So an hour or so before checkout we returned from breakfast and morning shopping to shower, pack and leave. Oh no, not again. The shower recess refused to drain so we're standing in dirty soapy water and what's more that first toilet flush was it's last. The wall mounted shampoo dispenser button was collapsed and couldn't be reset so body soap only (oh, and the shampoo dispenser lid was also missing, replaced from the first room).

Upon checking out we recommended management review there housekeeping services because each and all our concerns should have been discovered and reported during their room make-up, certainly not left for guests to discover and then be shuffled between rooms.

We're happy to offer three stars overall because reception did try to help and as they advised they'd only taken over management six months prior, thus we expect these are teething issues. Having gone through this experience, we'd likely book again due to their sincere apologies and genuine effort to make us happy. However next time we'll be checking the room thoroughly before unpacking our bags.

I booked two rooms at Grand Swiss Hotel last minute and was incredibly disappointed with the experience. The room description on the booking platform differed from the actual room. When I brought this discrepancy to the front desk staff's attention, they were unhelpful.
I wasn't the first guest to encounter this discrepancy. The staff's were aware of the problem, yet no effort was made to rectify it but to keep blaming the booking platform for the issue. This deflection tactic was unprofessional.

Very clean rooms but no windows, and I thought, no ventilation.

I was wrong, discovering it in the unfortunate way, waking up on the second night because of heavy smoke smell which was coming from toilet ventilation. Obviously, one of guests was smoking in the bathroom. I called for reception for help and was allowed to sleep in the another room which was free and nice. I slept for three more hours because if this swift help.

The location is perfect and receptionists are very courteous.

You need to leave the deposit but it was given back to me. Very accommodating personell.

I would choose an accommodation with window next time, but this hotel is perfect for the location, cleanliness, price.

It is very loud and you can hear every neaighbouring room move basically. I used ear plugs and slept with ho problem.

The hotel is just as the pictures show. We only booked for one night but ended up staying for a week. The hotel is kept very clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. It’s in walking distance to many bars and restaurants. I would definitely come back again.

Bad maintenance. The paint on the ceiling peels off and drops on my bed, the bathroom is small and smelly. The sound proof is terrible.

It is a great hotel, but if you book on traveloka, it might be cancelled by system without notification. The front office told the bookings was cancelled long time after I ordered it, and so many people experienced too (they informed. So, I have to book the room manually because it is night already and get 2.5x price 🫨 the canceled order will be refund but it is just wasting time and money.

Nice hotel in centre of old George Town, rooms are set back off the road and was surprisingly quiet. Big lockers able to fit my 65l rucksack and cabs in suit case not problem. Key card entry. Free Bottle of water daily, towels provided, shampoo / body wash available, we had a bath and a shower in our room, water pressure was fine and shower was hot. Seating areas outside rooms. Pool available to use although no lounging chairs to sunbathe or lay round pool. Lady on reception so helpful and s need to be there all the time to offer advice on what to see and how to get there. I would recommend

Throughout the process, he kept me informed, and made sure I felt comfortable and taken care of.

Thanks to Brijesh's dedication and resourcefulness, my Island City Hotel stay on Penang Island turned from a potential disaster into a truly pleasant experience. His professionalism, empathy, and commitment to guest satisfaction went above and beyond the call of duty. While Island City Hotel might be a 3-star hotel, Brijesh's service was undoubtedly 5-star. If you're looking for 5-star service without the 5-star price tag, Island City Hotel is the place to be, and be sure to ask for Brijesh!

I found a lot of bad reviews in google but due to its strategic location, I decided to give it a try. End up with disappointment and spoil my whole trip due to sleepless nights. Found hair, dust, cockroach in&on drawers and toilet. Bedsheet with bagworms n causes me itchy. Cannot sleep and keep on wake up due to bad soundproof. Thin floor and wall. Can hear people walking, open close door, talking,other guest alarm ringing etc. Did not place a carpet or towel outside toilet causes wet bedroom carpet n moldy smell. The hotel keep on saying to 'improve" in future in the google review comments. But based on my recent stay experience and observation, I don't think they ever try to improve the cleaniness.

A typical run-down 2 star hotel that does not even make any attempts to differentiate itself from the pack. An extremely unfriendly receptionist, the lack of basic amenities (towel, toothbrush, drinking water), dirty rooms (various stains and damages on the floors and walls), broken lightning and a cash-only payment (I was utterly inconvenienced by having to pay cash as they did not accept credit card) makes this place an advisable "not-recommended" for any visiting tourists.

On the good side, the traditional setting of the hotel makes for an interesting experience. Air-conditioning in the rooms are ok and the provided 32 inch TV is a nice to have.
