Pretty views of the city. But be prepared to climb a lot of stairs to get to them.
Unfortunately the excavation site was closed when I went. Also, resident peacocks were also a lot of fun.
Arrived early with the Lisbon Card to avoid long lines. Saw people with advance tickets skip it entirely.

Beautiful views. Was packed with tourists when I went though.
Magical at sunset, but equally amazing all throughout the day. Very different crowds if you visit during the day vs. sunset. During the day you will see tons of tuk tuks and guides bringing small groups up there for the amazing views and photos. Party vibe plus the magic of the sun going down over Lisbon at sunset!
Summary - the castle is good but it's really about the amazing views you get over Lisbon from the area outside of the castle. They are truly amazing and worth the entry fee on its own.
There is an interesting (ish) museum too and the castle is standing but there is nothing inside. Oh and there is the obligatory expensive cafe.
Just be careful is you have a Lisbon card. Kids that are 14 and over have the pay even if they have the card so it's a bit of a waste having it. To be honest we had this a few times so I am not sure that the Lisbon card is worth it unless you really really hit the museums.

Überraschend super schöne Aussicht auf Lissabon oben am Kirchturm. Noch besser als vor der Kirche. Man muss zwar Eintritt 5 € bezahlen, dafür bekommt man aber ein Getränk. Ich habe mich für einen Rose-Wein entschieden. Kinder bezahlen nur drei Euro. Es hat sich definitiv gelohnt auf dem Dach der Kirche zu sein.

Bellissimo panorama su Lisbona con azulejos e bougainvillea. Essendo molto gettonato ci sono molti ambulanti che tentano di avvicinare i turisti parlando in italiano, ma con un po' di attenzione ci si può godere un bel momento in un luogo molto caratteristico.
Excellent view west over a part of town with few landmarks but all the more interesting because of this. Alternative, relaxed scene with bar and deck chairs for late afternoon sun. Reached by two paths difficult to discern on Google. Closed at night but some brave (and thin) people slip through the bent bars of the eastern entrance.

No es uno de los miradores más conocidos de Lisboa, pero probablemente ahí esté la gracia de este sitio. Tiene vistas de 180° de la ciudad, se distinguen muy bien los colores de la ciudad: tejados rojos, mar y cielo azules. Buen lugar para hacerte unas fotos con la ciudad de fondo. Muy recomendable si estás por la zona.

El Mirador de Santa Lucía es uno de esos rincones mágicos de Lisboa que no puedes perderte. Ubicado en el encantador barrio de Alfama, este mirador ofrece unas vistas impresionantes del río Tajo y los tejados rojos de la ciudad. Es el lugar perfecto para relajarse y disfrutar de la puesta de sol después de explorar el cercano Castillo de San Jorge. Además, el mirador está adornado con azulejos tradicionales portugueses y una pequeña iglesia, lo que le da un toque aún más especial. Such a beautiful day out. Very affordable for young travellers <26. Was brilliant to walk around the castle and see the city from above.
Its quite a climb to get there and whilst inside its rather uneven - make sure you wear comfortable shoes and watch your step!

Nice city view. Recommend to visit.
From this place you can hear the planes. And watch them from distance. There is few benches right there , very appreciate it cause I was tired a little bit.
Also some temporary lemonade place was right there. I’m not sure is it always work or not.

It's worth visiting São Jorge Castle just before it closes when there are no more crowds. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and, having the Lisbon Card, we entered immediately (there is a separate line for cardholders). There were only a handful of people on the castle grounds. The views are stunning, and it's really worth walking along the walls of this majestic castle. It's true that there is a lack of information about the castle's history and the functions of its various elements. We noticed only one general information board, briefly describing different parts of the castle.
Amazing view point 🤩 where you can oversee entire Lisboa and surroundings. Definitely worth the ride up. We took a tuk tuk 👍 which is highly recommended as the streets are very steep and tight. You don’t want to go up by car and have to dodge any car 🚘. The view however is worth any manoeuvres 😅🚀🚀🚀
One of the best view points over Lisbon (and there are many!). You get great views of all sides and all the important landmarks of Lisbon. Particularly good to visit during golden hour to see the red roofs on top of the city lit up. The atmosphere in this place is also quite lively with street artists and a vibrant crowd. Its easily reachable via the iconic Tram 28 of Lisbon, but be aware though, that it's quite a steep climb up.
One of the best views in Lisbon. The views from here are spectacular. It was absolutely worth climbing all the steps and seeing the views from the top. Many people gather to see the beautiful sunsets every day. There's a coffee shop nearby where you can buy some snacks and drinks while enjoying the sunset .
Castelo de São Jorge is a very impressive medieval castle. The castle has so many intricate levels to investigate and explore. There’s also plenty of towers to climb that provide great views of Lisbon. The castle is heavily fortified and located on top of a hill. I was surprised to see a few peacocks roaming around. Since it is over 1,000 years old and rich with history, there’s a nice archeological museum with plenty of pottery found from digs. I do wish there were more signs throughout the castle telling me what I’m looking at and the history behind it. Regardless, Castelo de São Jorge is a staple of Lisbon and something I highly recommend visiting.

A lovely castle surrounded by green park and nice birds.
I’d recommend buying a ticket before you arrive so you can skip the ticket line and simply go to the barriers.
Be careful not to slip if you decide to go up to the castle wall. The stairs are quite unsteady, so you may wish to explore it from below if you are unsure.

It is an easy drive through place.

Only 3 stars because the camera obscurer wasn’t open, and the lack of information boards to help you learn the history.
The cost was €15.00 to get in but you can be there a good few hours. Not great for wheelchairs so be prepared to walk and climb lots of steps.
TIP: the queue to get in can be huge so buy your tickets online and skip straight to the front with your eticket.
Tip 2 - the walk to the castle was more fun than the castle itself. Lots of cute shops and streets. Enjoy the journey up!!

This is so called one of the Miradouros(View points) in Lisbon where you can see the famous and beautiful view of the orange colored roofs and the river. Located a bit higher side in eastern part of Lisbon (or Tourists area).
It would be better to visit Lisbon Cathedral, Castelo de S. Jorge and some Flee market altogether if you will go to this Alfama area.

Beautiful and scenic but crowded. This is a major stop for local tours and for those making their way around on foot. Expect crowds but still a great place to take in the city.
Un point de vue incroyable avec de magnifiques bougainvilliers en fleurs! C’est vraiment super beau! Vous pouvez y aller en redescendant de votre visite du Château plus haut.
Et pour ceux qui le souhaite il y a même une petite buvette avec des tables et des chaises. J’ai beaucoup aimé.

Il Miradouro de Santa Luzia è un belvedere di Lisbona con un'ampia vista sull'Alfama e sul fiume Tago. Scoprite questo belvedere dalla vista incredibile. È molto ricercato, sia per il panorama che per la sua bella decorazione unica a base di azulejos. È uno dei luoghi assolutamente da non perdere.dalla vista incredibile. Definitely not the best spot, at least not anymore due to grown trees (which should remain!). However, makes for great spot for a family/group picnic area. Sufficient open space, coverage in case of rain or needing shade from the sun, and is located within the recreational park so has washrooms, restaurants and activities.
GO. Worth the trip here. The views here are generally one of the better ones which you do not need to pay for.

Amazing View point in Lisboa. Came at the perfect time also just before the sunset. I walked there up around many steps which was worth it once I got to the top. Also there a couple of drink vendors where you can get yourself a drink be it coffee, tea, beers and soft drinks.
One of the best views of the city. And of course it’s crowded. Bit seriously crowded. Lots of TukTuks. Arriving with tourists. And who can blame them. It’s a tourist magnet. And the views doesn’t disappoint. So it you come, keep that in mind. Like everyone else who want this view. Just kind of cope with the crowd.
This was a great viewpoint it was crowded due to the time I came here around miday, but the view of the alfama neighborhood was really nice. There is another viewpoint right next to this one is it was good too.
Great view of the city at any time of day. I recommend finding your way up here, it’s not hard to find it. And there are always soo many tourists, but they will help you take photos if you want!
Amazing views of the Tagus and 25th of April Bridge. A shame the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building facade is sits behind is in bad need of a face lift and/or at least a paint job, but the views are unbeatable.
Fantastic view but the maintenance of the place is not as great. Not a big issue since entry is free
Not a good view compared to others around. The park where it is inserted has been used for a long time to host kids birthday parties, if you visit you understand why
Bel punto panoramico della città anche se non affaccia sulla parte piu vecchia. Bel giardino e belle terrazze per ammirare i tetti di Lisbona. Merita una visita anche perché poco frequentato rispetto ai classici miraduri. Bella anche la discesa dalla scala attraverso i giardini.
