Really lovely venue. It's a social heat beat as there is a Starbucks so there are many people visiting. There is the gym and leisure centre at the hotel that is popular. The bar and restaurant is really lovely with great mid week meal deals and events for sports. We popped in 7am for breakfast even though we were not guest of the hotel. Buffet style breakfast (not alot of variety). We were happy to be served so early for non hotel guests. Great decors. Very modern and vibrant venue
Met up with friends and had a really lovely meal. The Steak and Ale pie was delicious came with chunky chips and fresh veg broccoli, swede and peas. Highly recommend. ( We ate at the other pub in the village the night before and The Boat Inn was far superior 👏 highly recommend) Thankyou for our lovely meal
A huge thank you to the staff at Pyrford Lakes Golf Club for all their help in making my husband's birthday party so special. Theyt were patient and offered just the right guidance and reassurance when needed. He absolutely loved it. Even though it was raining, the outside area was covered yet open so people could still enjoy the space. An added little bit of joy was when the staff were dancing behind the bar and then joined us briefly on the dance floor at the end - we loved that! The food was amazing and there was more than plenty for everyone. Recommended.
This is a review of breakfast and nothing else. The food selection is very good here - arguably one of best in the City, if not the best.

The service today was flawed. Coffee was brought but no milk as requested. Cooked breakfast came, but had to ask for butter for toast. Ordered tea and is taking far too long. Typo on menu. The table for breads and toast has no plates on it. All plates and dishes are stacked up on a different table at corner by the fruit bowls. I said why don't they have plates by the bread? There is plenty of space. One of waitresses said she'd mention it to the manager.

It is a shame, since was expecting a positive and relaxed experience - and their all-in breakfast does not come cheap at £25, but I am left dissatisfied. Tea has not come, over 10 minutes since ordered.

The view by my window seat is great, as far as Cambridge views go, and it is an attractive, spacious dining room.

Breakfast is a joke! I paid for this and there was no fruit, nothing but dried banana to go with yoghurt and a section of so few cereals. No muesli. No oats. No porridge. Staff, whilst friendly, didn’t know what time breakfast opened on the bank holiday Monday. Other days breakfast was opened late with a queue of people waiting.

Club room is large. Medium cleanliness. TV didn’t work in my room.

Confusion over the car park pricing too. Room says it’s free on weekends. Staff seemed unsure told me it’s included with my room but didn’t ask for my registration. Car park says it’s 4 hours free then charged including weekends. Car parking app doesn’t work well.

The hotel is mediocre. It’s cheaper but probably not worth the money in my opinion. Need more attention to detail and better management and proper breakfast options.

Reading other reviews it seems to be a trend. Staff are nice but hotel needs to be better managed and maintained. Total lack of care for detail.

I wouldn’t stay here again nor recommend it to anyone.
Booked a weekend luxury afternoon session for my mother in laws 70th and also booked a mini me pamper day for my daughter. I have to say I was really disappointed. I have been to Ickworth Estate many times and have loved it but unfortunately I think the afternoon was a huge waste of money and really badly advertised. Staff were lovely and very friendly but I would not say it was ‘luxurious’ and there is no spa!! You spend most of the time in the main hotel with all the other holiday guests and their children. The children’s room was a complete mess with no staff tidying it. The massage was lovely to be fair but you are just in the basement of the hotel with no signs where to go and you just get 20 mins of relaxing before your back up into the main hotel which is busy and noisy. The cream tea was ok but after 30 minutes we had to chase the food (we were one of only two tables being used) and the ‘spa’ is just a nice rectangular swimming pool open to all the guests and their children. No spa, steam room, sauna to be seen! I am amazed they can have the changing room set up as is as there is just one changing area with no door so anyone walking in can see you get undressed and although there are two shower cubicles these were always in use. Lockers had no locks so had to take all bags onto pool side and the pool was full to bursting with children so might as well have been at a leisure center!!! The mini ‘experience’ was basically a scone and half an hour in the pool… I could have taken her to Costa and the local leisure center for a third of the price!!! The Estate is really beautiful but unfortunately it certainly was not a luxury spa experience.
Loved it had been looking for this place for the last 5yrs We didn't stop for food on this occasion as we had a little one who was getting tired. But will be back as the food looked and smelt delicious. Very friendly staff lovely atmosphere. 🙂🙃👌👍
Our choir, West Byfleet Show Choir, hired the function room at Pyrford Lakes Golf Club for a social evening last week to celebrate our 9th birthday! It couldn't have gone better, mainly thanks to Ben Harvey the events organiser! He went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly on the night, and he and the other staff were so helpful, friendly and personable!
The buffet food and pizzas were plentiful and delicious - everyone was raving about the food! The setting of the clubhouse, looking out over the golf course and lakes is just beautiful. We will definitely be back for our 10th birthday!

First time I visited The Woburn, for a evening meal, we were celebrating my wife's 50th. We had a party of 10 , it was an amazing night, the menu catered for the adults and kids.
The food was amazing , everyone enjoyed what they ordered , the service was excellent, the staff dealing with us were very very good.
The setting itself was really good , it was a really nice atmosphere, it was a really nice night to celebrate my wife's 50th, she loved it.
I would recommend The Woburn to friends and family.
Was my second time here. First time was around 4-5 years ago. That visit was very good. And now (May 24)back again on a narrowboat and we had to visit them 😀. Service is still very good and friendly. Also the food is still very good.

For the boaters: they offer grocery service, not a big list, but all things you can use daily. Check their website for what they can get you. There is no shop in the neighbourhood

Had dinner and drinks here and loved it. Food was fantastic with something for everyone and there is a good drinks menu. staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
Significantly exceeded expectations, greens had been hollowtined a few weeks before which would be my only complaint, otherwise the whole venue is well set up with practice facilities and a range, layout was really enjoyable with lots of drops and great views.
Stopped here on a whim for an early dinner after slogging through Camden Market and so glad we did. Bright, welcoming space and really friendly staff who went out of their way to make two tourists feel at home. Food (I had the braised beef cheeks, pictured) was excellent, and a decent selection of wine was on offer. Would definitely return. Oh, and there were a TON of dogs in the place later (with their owners), if that's your thing.
Great service at the restaurant and super golfing facilities for all. Non members able to use the driving range with chipped balls. The pirate crazy golf recently refurbished looking good too.

We had such an amazing visit, can’t fault it, we did have an issue with the electric not working in our room on arrival but Benji very quickly sorted that for us. Benji was amazing the entire stay.. he went above and beyond for us and was such a lovely person! Thank you Benji and the waitress who recommended the avocado cocktail, which was very nice!
My first time at Chobham and luckily we chose a sunny day , the course is lovely and well kept , challenging at times , with lots of water . Food was excellent and all staff were efficient and friendly .
Looking forward to returning 😊👍

We had an evening meal in the restaurant at The Woburn. We parked at the rear of the hotel, which had ample parking spaces. Once we entered the hotel we were greeted with a friendly smile, we were shown our table and offered drinks, along with the specials menu. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, with an open kitchen with lots of space between tables, next time we would sit in the champagne area. Our food was well presented and tasted amazing, a dessert of Tiramisu which was awesome, on par with anything we had tasted in Italy. One issue, we had to leave and definitely going back.

Really great place to eat. Fantastic food, beautiful decor and staff were friendly and helpful. Not too pricey considering what a lovely building it is, and a nice varied menu. Would definitely recommend.
An interesting course with plenty of hills. The club were doing some green maintenance but this wasn’t a problem and we had a good round.

We stayed in the lodge and had a very tired room which needed a major upgrade particularly the bathroom.

Similarly to the other reviews breakfast was super slow but nice when it arrived. Dinner is over priced and poor - all our meals over the two night stay were not enjoyable.

Toys in the library need adding too and updating - more for babies less for 3 and up.

Staff were lovely and polite. Overall had a pleasant stay but disappointing considering it’s under the ‘luxury’ hotel umbrella.
Considering all the rain in recent weeks, the fairways and greens were in good condition and the course was nicely presented. There were some boggy, churned up areas in the rough. The new owners, Get Golfing, have done a marvellous job on refurbishing the clubhouse and all the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Sadly, (hence the three stars), the same cannot be said for some of the members. When the two of us arrived as paying visitors on the first tee we were told by an aggressive member that we couldn’t play with the two members we had been paired with (we had no choice in that - the course was fully booked, so fourballs only) because another member was joining them. He was really rude and the other members sided with him. When we calmly and politely pointed out that we were in that tee time on their booking system they said that was irrelevant. They told us we could go out after them but that wasn’t an option as there were no empty slots.

Thankfully a staff member (the head pro?) arrived and sorted it out and couldn’t have been more charming to us and we played as we had been booked. I think what’s happening is that some members don’t like the new processes at the club and ignore the booking system. I understand that change can be difficult, and some members are disgruntled, but there’s no need to take it out on the visitors. It took the shine off what was otherwise a good round of golf.
My review only pertains to the restaurant at the golf club, as I have been going there with my child for lunch several times a month. Typically, I order the kids' meal deal for my daughter at £7.50. Today, I discovered that it includes a dessert, although we had never been offered this before and seemingly paid for it previously.

For myself, ordering is challenging due to my allergies. The one item on the menu that I can have is consistently out of stock. Thus, today I opted for a small salad, which ended up nearly costing me £9. It was simply lettuce, croutons, and dressing, which was very disappointing.
A memorable Mother’s Day experience! The presentation was beautiful with lovely greetings, flowers, table decorations and live jazz singing! After my delicious breakfast I was given a Mother’s Day gift to take home too!
I love the vibe of this little pub. The staff are super friendly and it's clean. They do good food, and cocktails. ££ The only thing is that the crust of the pizza was incredibly thin and not very nice..... They also got our vegan pizza order wrong 😅 I had a lovely Shirley Temple non alcoholic cocktail here.

Really lovely night away using their "Eat and Stay" deal. Although there was some confusion between booking and actually being there with when the food in the deal was available. The staff were extremely helpful though and arranged for the kitchen to stay open slightly later to accommodate our plans and the miscommunication. Incredible value deal though. Rooms were comfortable although nothing to shout about. The shower was extremely powerful which was brilliant when you were in it, not so much when you were figuring out the taps and drenched the bathroom! 😂 Minimal noise from neighbouring rooms but I was glad the weather was bad as I was located by the lovely outside terrace. Food was incredible, between our party we tried lots of different things and all were well received. Really good choice of drinks available too. Would definitely stay again, especially if they repeat the deal!
Drainage has improved significantly here over recent years. Today, when other courses had restrictions or were very muddy, course was in great nick and greens very (too!) fast. Water on most holes makes it very challenging compared to other courses and so bring plenty of balls, but it doesn't spoil the enjoyment!
Good course with splendid views, greens in good condition especially for the time of year.

This is a fairly comprehensive review of the gym and leisure facilities at The Village Hotel, Edinburgh. Having been a member for the requisite year (I have decided to leave) these are my plus and minus points about being a gym and leisure member:

+
Good size gym
Other members fairly friendly
Welcoming atmosphere
Fairly good location
Other businesses inside - Starbucks, restaurant, bar
Initial sign-up easy
Good engagement via circular emails
Customer service decent
Personal trainers and advice readily available
Lockers easy to use
Entry and exit straightforward
Car park easy to use and always has spaces
Fairly stress-free compared to there gyms

Dirty - the toilets and changing rooms are often quite dirty (considering the relatively pricey membership fee)
Toilet seats broken and don't stay up!
Locker doors often broken
Shower door hooks often broken
Guest pass system very poor (see below)
Broken equipment - the gym equipment is not maintained adequately considering the price level of the membership fee
They took an extra 2 weeks of money when I left after 12 months (so I paid 12 months + 2 weeks which differed from the contract I signed)
Membership fee raised while I was a member with no noticeable improvements
Swimming pool very small
Hot tub is very small and always full (even off-peak)

My overall feeling was The Village is very quick to take your money, raise fees and make it difficult to leave (3 months notice and took more than 12 month’s fees from me even though I gave over 3 month’s notice).

In general my opinion is that the gym and facilities are not well maintained for the price (£62 /m). For around £80-100 a month there are far more well maintained gyms and spas in Edinburgh that I’ve been a member of.

Ultimately I decided to leave due to the focus on extracting more money from me without an adequate approach to making the facilities acceptable. I would happily pay £30-40 a month (similar to council gym) for this place but not the price they are charging.

Furthermore I was given 6 printed guest passes when I joined which expired within 1 week! I asked for the dates to be changed and they offered me the option of electronic passes that would not expire. However when I took a guest a couple of times they said the passes were deleted and charged my guest. They offered to get the manager to help but I couldn't be bothered so just paid!

In conclusion it is quite a nice place to workout but the gym and leisure facilities are not up to scratch for the amount they charge in my opinion. A manager / boss with more focus on quality rather than taking guest's money would improve the situation and I may have stayed on.

Just popped in with my wife as we were out for a drive. We were greeted by a very nice young man behind the bar, very polite, nice and welcoming, and no fuss. I had two pints of San Miguel, they were lovely pints, with a nice head all the way to the bottom of the glass. Definitely coming back in the summer.
Thoroughly enjoyed my round here. Very well kept course, lovely greens, nice pace of play. Will be back for sure
Had a wonderful evening celebrating my husbands birthday. Lovely, helpful staff with nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Sunday lunch, did not stay in hotel so no review for accommodation.
Delicious meal. Varied menu, even on a Sunday, especially the number of gluten free options available. We ate in the restaurant which was beautiful. Lovely for a special occasion. Previously I have ordered food in bar area as I had a dog with me. Equally good meal with no difference in service. All staff were polite, helpful, professional and friendly.
Parking easy in hotel car park.
A lovely canal side restaurant/pub. Enjoyed by local boaters and visitors alike. Sausage and mash was delicious. Perfectly large but not wasteful portions. Proper homely belly warming food. And very reasonable on pricing for what you get in my opinion. Thank you Boat Inn! 🛥️
Great service, fabulous food. A bit quiet, but to be expected in the winter on a Monday night. Definitely recommend and would love to go back in the Summer ☀ 😁
Great business meeting.

Breakfast, lunch and a drink in front of the open fire 🤗

Friendly team, great quality.
Quality bespoke brasserie, awesomeness is in the food and charm of the hosts. Wonderful venue for a quick bite just a stones throw from Primrose Hill.
28 Of us had 2 fantastic days at this fantastic course which was in great condition, and the greens were superb .

The course was only bettered by the hospitality we received from our host Sally and Alex , as well as all of their team .

The hot buffet full English breakfast was fantastic and lots of it .

On the course we all received a free drink either a lovely cold singha beer or soft drink

After golf drinks on the terrace overlooking 3 holes with plenty of water eating home made pizza from their own pizza oven
The chicken skewers also highly recommended.

Already booked our society of 28 in for next year , cannot recommend highly enough .

Superb relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse , big screens for sports fans .
Book your golf day quickly , this will fill up fast .
This is a lovely, traditional pub with a bit of history.
It is split on 2 levels with the main area dominated by an island bar. There is also a few tables outside and a quirky beer garden with colourful umbrellas providing limited shelter. There is also a picture of a young girl and a lion that is rumoured to be a Banksy!
We visited on a lovely, sunny Sunday and were keen to get an outside table or one in the beer garden. Although the pub was busy we were given a table in the beer garden after a short wait 😀
There is good selection of beers, spirits and cocktails.
The food was excellent - my Seafood Linguine was absolutely brilliant with lots of mussels and tasty, succulent prawns.
I can honestly say that it was better than any similar dish that I've had in any restaurant! Definitely a gastropub 😀
Service was lovely, efficient and above all friendly. Recommended.
It is a short walk from Chalk Farm Tube station and close to the colourful houses in Primrose.
A lovely course, in good condition throughout and with enough ups and downs to make it interesting and fun to play. Good food and beer available, and the staff are great too. Well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
A very well maintained course with excellent views over Guildford, the surrounding countryside, and the Cathedral. This is open land and so beware of the walkers when teeing off!
Didn't actually play golf but the course looks lovely. Great setting, we like just popping in for a drink as you can't seem to go to a pub these days and sit and have a quiet drink and a chat , so it's perfect here !
9 hole is good for quick round, if no one in front you can get around in 1:15 hour… 18 hole is great , few holes are tough with hills, but overall great place well kept fairway , green can sometimes be bit wet, if your score is not great don’t worry you can always enjoy breath taking views ;-)
We won a ticket to the Pirate Golf, which we weren't able to use due to the pandemic. The staff were AMAZING and let us use the ticket, despite being out of date. The course itself is lovely. Challenging for children and adults! My son loved the pirate ship and the glow in the dark hole, and the pull along bridges, and we cannot wait to come again. Fabulous use of a couple of hours!!!!
Best local course I've played recently. I'm not a member but it was easy to book a tee time for a Saturday afternoon. Exceptionally good course and the club members that we met we're incredibly friendly. Shame my golf didn't do the course justice but I'll be back for sure
Great golf club. Lovely course, great bar staff, nice neat pro shop. All round really friendly members. Definitely a warm welcome when you arrive or join. Great management too to assist in any way. Thumbs up here. If you are thinking of joining a new golf club in the area then this is the one you definitely want to try out.
A friendly welcome to beautifully presented course. A good test for golfers of all levels. Tricky greens means big hitters don't get all the prizes! Some memorable holes.
For a public course, it's very good. They do pack the players onto the course though so don't be surprised if it takes you 5 hours to get round

Edit (May 2024) - Played today, 2 ball, got round comfortably in under 4 hours. I really like this course. It's pretty hilly so beware and there's some very challenging holes. That said there's also some far easier ones to break things up.

It's in very good condition considering the shocking weather we've had so far this year. Definitely one of the better pay and pay courses around.
