Amazing museum! It has everything from history, prehistoric animals, bugs, movie screenings, war memorabilia etc. My favourite is taking someone new into the volcanic eruption simulation.
My advice is not to go during the weekends or school holidays because it gets packed with a lot of people and children.

Was so much gun see the mini wharenui and the history of Tuwharetoā also got to do a matariki and dinksaur huny kidsnlover it plus draw your own matariki and put it on display kids had fun it was interactive tey it kids will thank you for it

Love my experience here, always bring my family here perfect for tourists plus getting to know the significance of the maori culture plus other pacific islands….also getting to know more about WW2 and warriors who sacrificed their lives for us which is emotional, really recommended if you want to know/learn more about Aotearoa

The best museum in Auckland! You can visit it for free if you are a resident (visit the website for more info).
The GF area is more about the Maori culture and the integration of Auckland with the culture itself. The 2nd floor is more about the history of World War II and the New Zealand's role on WWII.
The museum also provide more information by video using headphone and many interactive area such as informative-touch screen, real-time interactive camera etc.
Haven't visit the 1st floor but there is kids galleries on it.
The GF also has spacious atrium and restaurant for resting if you feel tired.
All staff were friendly and observant.

Lovely museum with great views over the port. Lots varied topics about the local area and NZ in general. The Oyster Boat that they have to explore was brilliant and really brought working in the industry to life. The boat was fully accessible and I would recommend climbing down to get a look! The interactive engine was also great and the film that they have about the islands off Stewart Island is well worth watching. Attentive and knowledgeable staff really enhanced our experience.
Had a great time with the kids over the weekend to see the Lego exhibit titled Relics : A new world rises. It's like a take of Lego master builders in old and forgotten icons of "my" time. A bit nostalgic going through some of the exhibits and even got to show my kids what TVs looked like before the flat panels they say these days. Grab the Relics hand out when you enter and try and do the challenges.
Lovely experience overall. We loved how the museum presented snippets of people’s lives. So much more personal.
Petit musée mais grand savoir. L’exposition sur l’espace, la connaissance maorie alliée à celle de la science sous format de petites vidéos. Une sensibilisation sur l’espace et ce qu’il est envoyé en terme de satellites etc

This is a fantastic wee gem of a local Maritime Museum here in Bluff. Many artifacts and a great recording of the history of what happened everything related to this port town over the many years when Bluff established itself as the Southern most port on the New Zealand South Island. Well worth the visit any time of the year but especially best when the world famous Bluff Oyster is in season, do check first to ensure you are visiting during this time.
Prachtig museum en informatie over de rol van NZ in beide Wereldoorlogen. Ook veel aandacht voor de Maori cultuur en geschiedenis. De foto tentoonstelling was schitterend.
Prachtig museum waar je zeker een aantal uren kan rond lopen.
Beautifully displayed with a wide array of topics and broad history covered. Very enjoyable and I love that it's free for residents and for those of us that aren't, the price was very reasonable. Lucky to be able to add the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibit for only $9NZ
Was visiting as part of our cruise. Walked from the dock in Auckland. Beautiful and at times challenging walk. Arrived at museum to find international guests are required to pay to enter. Chose to walk around surroundings and gardens instead.

Nettes Museum besonders für Familien. Kindern wird einiges geboten. Aktive Spiele mit Technik .Eine alte Straßenbahn 🚊 verbindet die beiden Museumsteile 7 bis 8 min Fahrtzeit. Der 2. Teil ist ein großer Flugzeughangar mit vielen Flugzeugen und einigen Helikoptern.

Soms voelde de opzet van het museum een beetje chaotisch waardoor ik de rode draad van het verhaal verloor. Less is more denk ik dan.

Indrukwekkende collectie die veel laat zien van de Maori cultuur. Ook bijzondere afdeling over oorlogen in NZ en oorlogen waar NZ haar offers heeft gebracht.
An easy walk if you have no mobility problems but as you'd expect it's uphill all the way with a steeper incline for the last 100m. Well worth the effort for the views over Nelson and there are helpful photos to show the different areas you can see.

Très joli petit musée qui donne quelques informations sur la région.
Topmuseum voor maori-cultuur met de haka als optie.
Je ziet in het museum unieke boten en woningen van de maori. De informatieborden geven duidelijke uitleg.
Onze gids liet duidelijk het verband tussen de verschillende voorwerpen zien.

Thematisiert werden hier die neuseeländische Navy und deren Einsätze in historischen Kriegen. Anhand zahlreicher historischer Gegenstände und dem geschichtlichen Hintergrund wird dies gut vermittelt.
Das Museum hat einen eigenen Parkplatz und ist barrierefrei gestaltet. Toiletten sind sehr sauber. Zugang ohne Eintritt. Kleine Souvenir-Ecke. Nettes kleines Café angeschlossen, in welchem neben Getränken auch diverse Speisen serviert werden.
Für einen Zwischenstopp von 1-2 Stunden sehr zu empfehlen.

On aurait voulu avoir plus d'histoire sur les autochtones de la région. Il y a l'histoire de l'exploitation du bois de la pêche sur le lac (loisirs pas industrielle) mais pas des habitants avant la colonisation. Dommage.
Unerwartet gut. Riesige Auswahl an seltenen Fahrzeugen und automobilen Erinnerungsstücken in ausgezeichnetem Zustand.
Sehr interessant und wirklich gut gemachte Ausstellungen. Auch die Tram zwischen den beiden Standorten ist eine interessante Erfahrung.
Das Museum ist auf zwei Standorten aufgeteilt. Es verkehren alte Straßenbahnen zwischen den Standorten. Beide sind sehr unterschiedlich. In einem sind Flugzeuge Militär/Zivile in einer großen Halle zu sehen. Es fährt auf dem Gelände ein alter Dampfzug alle 20 Minuten. Im anderen kann man Dampfmaschinen im Betrieb bewundern. Autos, Telekommunikation und ein kleines Freilichtmuseum sowie alte Feuerwehrautos. Der Eintritt von 19NZ$ ist ok.
Ik was er voor de laatste Last Post die er geblazen werd. Emotioneel en weinig volk enkel een paar militairen. Je moet geïnteresseerd zijn in WOI om dit te appreciëren. De Anzacs hebben ons bijgestaan bij het winnen vd oorlog.
Ok, Hintergründe zum Ort gut erklärt. Sicher sehr liebevoll von den ortsansässigen hergerichtet.
Das MUSEUM of TRANSPORT and TECHNOLOGY of New Zealand liegt im WESTERN SPRINGS PARK. am Ufer des WAITEMATU HARBOUR. Eine dampfbetriebene Lokomotive der Western Springs Railway fährt auf den Schienen des Museums. Mit einem Londoner Doppeldecker-Bus können Besichtigungstouren unternommen werden. Zahlreiche historische Flugzeuge, wie z. B. den Lancaster-Bomber aus dem 2. Weltkrieg, und ein Soldat aus der Kolonialzeit sind zu sehen.
Beste Investition die ich in Auckland gemacht habe. Die 16$ waren jeden Cent wert!!
