I have been a patient of Elmwood Medical Practice for the past 6 years when we moved to Belfast, along with my husband and 3 young children. Unfortunately we are having to leave the practice as we are moving house. I am so sad to leave, and would like to thank all the staff that have looked after us so well over the past few years, in particular Sr. Debbie Stanley, Dr. Mac Donagh, Dr. Burnett and Dr. Logan. I have had such great experiences with all the staff in the practice and great support. They provide an excellent standard of care and the staff have been so accommodating and helpful. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone living in the area.
Thank you for all your hard work.

I would like to comment on my experience with this practice.
Both my children and I have been patients for about 30 years.
I have always found the staff to be helpful, polite and courteous.
In my last contact, I phoned reception at about 10.30am. I received a call back from the doctor within 1 hour and was seen at 12.30.
The doctor was very helpful, provided a thorough examination, advice and a treatment plan.
The reception staff both on the way in and out were very approachable and helpful and I had a prescription completed the same day.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this practice to anyone.

I can't thank enough to Debbie, the Senior Nurse of Elmwood Medical Practice in Belfast. After my recent big operation, I was very attended for post-op care. She looks after me very well. She gives me comfort when I need it most. The service is excellent!

Amazing helpful staff today when I needed urgent help. Reception staff so kind when I rang in and I got an urgent appointment - the best two nurses ever solved the issue and I left pain free. Thanks so much

Horror Story
If I could give 0 stars for the Elmwood Practice, I regret ever registering at this Practice. During my first telephone contact I was coldly told that medication that I had been successfully prescribed for several years as part of a carefully devised medical plan with my previous health centre would be reduced significantly in dosage and stopped! I made clear that obliterating my existing health care plan would have catastrophic consequences on my health. My circumstances were protected by the terms of the 'Disability Discrimination Act.' I was told that it was Practice 'policy' to reduce and then stop entirely prescribing one of the two tablets I had been regularly used to as patients because of concerns over 'dependency'. I am entirely dependent on food, water, shelter, warmth and companionship. Are these problems of 'dependency? The fact is the medical plan and the prescribed medicines I was used to were essential to improve and enhance the quality of my life and health. Obliterating that highly successful care plan because of a slave subservience by a GP to an ill conceived policy at Dunluce is courting disaster. No one at reception told me or provided/directed me to review patient information outlining this so called policy. If they had I would not have registered with this health centre. I am currently engaged in attempting to resolve these circumstances under enormous stress, which has caused me acute distress and ill health and continues to do so.

I have been going to this surgery since 1980 when I was 16. I have always been given a great service, and now that I am getting older, that has not changed. Getting through on the phone is easy, just phone early and leave yourself a little time, there is even a queue count down on the line, couldn't be easier.
Many thanks to all the staff and Doctor's.
