The airport is easy-to-use and very clean. The staf are not kindly. The checks are many and by unkind employees. When you landed in airport, you self-check in the machine your passport and it prints the visa for entering the country. Then, border police check your passport and what their machine printed and give you a new paper with stamp. You take two steps, and a gum-chewing, grunting clerk takes that piece of paper from you. On take off, they interrogate and ask questions but in unintelligible English. They open checked luggage if they suspect there is a weapon. In my case, it was a nail file. I found a piece of paper inside the luggage with an explanation of why it had been opened. The saw was there, and the luggage was not cluttered. I wouldn't have known they did if it wasn't for the apology note. The good thing is that there are not many shops at the gates and you are not tempted to buy souvenirs or other things.
Ben Gurion International Airport is one of the most beautiful airports I’ve been to.
It is a very big airport, with lots of shops, food stands, sitting areas and duty-free shops. The security checks are quite detailed and impressive. One however needs to be careful to follow the signs and directions to avoid missing your way and your flight. The workers are always willing to help with directions. There are lounges for anyone who needs privacy and go-cart for those who need aid in mobility within the airport.
