This is essentially a fire museum. We went on an open day, so it had lots of extra vehicles in the car park for the kids to view and sit in. The museum has lots of old engines and tells the stories of the fire brigade. There are lots of interactive games and activities for the kids to do. Though it isn't a big museum and I feel you would be able to do a full day here more a few hours on a normal visit.
Small fire museum opposite the tram stop or a short walk from Rochdale train station.
A few examples of fire engines, some that you can sit in. Staffed by retired fire personnel who are very knowledgeable. A couple of interactive games for children as well as a dress up section for them.
Small cafe too, their food is nice if a little pricey and lovely hot chocolate.
There's a small carpark behind the station, but it's easier to take the train or tram. It kills a few hours.
Opening times are a bit odd, so check before you travel.

A fantastic afternoon spent at the museum with our four year old who loved the interactive exhibits. A big shout out to volunteer and ex-fireman Les Reid for his captivating and emotive insights into the world of firefighting. They really struck a chord, brought everything to life and enhanced the experience. He and the rest of the team are a real credit to the museum. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommend! An added bonus was the lovely sweet treats and coffee in the onsite cafe 👍
Fantastic place, excellent value for money, we was lucky to get a volunteer Dave to talk to us about all the engines and the history our granddaughters love it. Cafe for us had a very limited menu, but what we choose was nice. The little gift shop again was great value and all three girls got a little gift, Matilda couldn’t wait to get home to colour in her picture she picked. Will defiantly be back
