There's a GREAT GDR museum in here which not even locals know about (enter the arch and turn right, see video).

It is much better than the 'official' GDR museum plus it's FREE and, in a cool neighbourhood. Museum staff, (unlike the GDR museum) do not feel they need to be in GDR character, ie: These guys smile and are really friendly.

I particularly loved the 'revolutionary' camping tent on a car roof, complete with serious male briefs hanging to dry (seems lije a joke but was not). Its exhibits drive home life in East Germany for everyday citizens.

TIP: If you go on a Saturday be sure to visit the Kollwitzplatz market a few minutes away.

4 stars for the amazing vibes of this place. I went with my three year old. My kid danced heart out. One star is deducting because the museum was closed before time and no one knows the reason. But overall highly recommended.

Great experience here while visiting Heidelberg! They had English menus which was great. I tried their wheat beer and enjoyed it even though I’m not much of a beer drinker. The food was delicious. Very happy that we stopped here to enjoy a meal.

An old brewery now converted into a culture hub. Visited recently during a intentional culture event on Sunday. It had events and food stall from across the globe. Overall a nice place to enjoy and hang out. Enjoyed the food too.

Great area near an old brewery which becomes a nice ethnic food market during the weekend. Lots of authentic ethnic food with friendly people, and the food isn’t very expensive, but still good quality. You can have a coffee or a beer and many different types of food. There are tables and chairs and even sun chairs if you want to hang around for a while.
