Large palace complex.
I took a tour, and the tour guide was able to talk about the history and significance of the different parts of this attraction. On its own, it is beautiful, but with the background, you feel more immersed in the culture.
The different parts of the compound are separated by different gates, and I think you can buy different tickets based on this.
Many museum displays within the palace as well as cafes and gift shops.
I do not think that there is an active mosque here, but there did seem to have prayer areas. So check the website for the dress code.

I visited it back in 2023 and the price was way cheaper around 30€. I came back with my family today. Despite being a nice place, there's nothing impressive to see and honestly 45€ is not worth it at all. Not to mention the huge amount of people and queue. Not only outside. Also inside queues to get anywhere. This time they didn't even provide us with a map. A total mess!
I don't honestly know where Turkey wanna get with these prices increase. With the same price I can visit 3 way more famous places in Italy. But if tourists were coming here because everything was cheaper, the situation has changed. And they'll face the consequences.

We almost didn’t go because I thought the tickets were expensive but my husband and I LOVED IT! The palace was our favorite part of the old city.
We loved all the beautiful architecture, history, courtyards, stones, and outfits on display. We learned a lot about the Ottoman Empire, the ottoman sultans, and Islam from our time at the palace.
We had a private guide and definitely recommend that over a huge group or going alone. You get to ask more questions and truly appreciate your experience.

40 euro entry fee for tourists is STEEP, but it’s still worth it considering the quality, history and the breadth of things to see. It feels impossible to describe what there is to see in a single review, but all I can say is that I spent almost 5 hours exploring the palace grounds. Breathtaking views (and imagine having these views 200-500 years ago), historical/religious relics, stunning architecture and interior design and rich history with items that even extended beyond the Ottoman Empire.

One of my favorite places in Istanbul. We only had chance to visit one museum and chose this one. Highly recommended by locals and visitors. A bit expensive but it’s worth every lira. It’s said it holds the biggest Islamic articles collection. Architecture, history, religion, landscapes, mysticism, all in one place.
Well preserved palace of the Sultans. It's absolutely huge and contains many interesting exhibits and beautiful gardens. Would suggest getting a guide or going as part of a tour as I think it would be a bit overwhelming otherwise. You certainly need most of a day to see everything.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful place, a must to go! This shows the greatness of the Turks, the Ottoman Empire and how gallantly they ruled the entire world for over 400 years!!! It is simply astonishing to imagine how they build such beautiful, cool, buildings with a superb architecture, design and art work that is even glorious after hundreds of years. One can’t imagine how without the availability of machines they managed to make such infrastructure!!!!
The Islamic relics area need to be entered with body covered, they give clothes/scarfs. Then do take your own water & refreshments which are a bit expensive. Ticket itself is steep price wise 1500 TL BUT worth the experience. Then take an id card for security deposit and they will give you an audio recording of the place as a guide. No need to get a guide the recording is most helpful! Or simply use the cafe’s wifi to load before entering.
