A great place to see the Greek craftsmanship in making statues carved out of stones. Greek sarcophagi are of special interest. I literally overawed by the skillful Greek's crafts and craftsmanship.
Although several sections of the museum are currently closed, there are still many artifacts on display. The museum has an amazing collection and is well organized. I specially liked the statues and the sarcophaguses. The museum also has a gift shop.
One of the best curated and organized museums I've been too. I loved the layout and that it wasn't overwhelming. Thorough explanations provided in each section about the particular time period.

A very pleasant museum that doesn't overwhelm you with too much. I was surprised how the visitor is presented with one of the most impressive objects of the museum right at the beginning near the entrance - the sarcophagus of Alexander. All the objects were displayed clearly, no overcrowding. The texts were also helpful and not too wordy. We did have to queue in the morning at 10am to get in but the queue did move forward and we waited approximately 30 minutes. The museum is located inside of a park which provides nice shade in the summertime.
My favourite museum in Istanbul so far. It really paints a picture of the change in eras alongside the statues, with a lot of good information.

Visited on Sunday at about 4p. On-site entry purchase with about 5 minutes waiting. Carried backpack with water. Small cafe On-site. Plan 2 hours as much history and artifacts to see. Section displaying Troy history and artifacts a must-see. Clean, safe, and well organized. Truly world class.
