A bit confused for the first time visit. You need to get the seats first then go to the next door to place your order. The Sesame chicken and BKT soup is good, BKT not the peppery type but the taste is wonderful, not too salty. Will be back for more!

This Bak Kut Teh speciality restaurant is along the same street as the old school Ah Soon Bak Kut Teh. It uses gas instead of charcoal, and occupues two shop lots. One half of the restaursnt is thankfully air-conditioned, letting diners have the hot soup and claypot dishes in comfort.

Both their bak kut teh and sesame chicken are good. I did asked for soup top up this time. The soup is not too herbal, nor peppery, just smooth and full of umami.

This is my fav bak kut teh in JB so far. Will be back for more.

Was quite full as this was the 3rd meal of the day. We came during lunchtime on a Friday and the place was quite packed. We were told to order at the store beside the main shop before being seated which I thought was kind of strange as there’s also a counter in the main shop.

Nonetheless, the BKT soup was still rich and flavorful and pork ribs were decently tender. Price is also reasonable and environment is comfortable with aircon. The veggie topped w minced garlic was also very satisfying when paired w the BKT and rice.

I recently visited Shoon Huat to try their Bak Kut Teh, but I must admit I was left wondering what all the fuss is about. While the broth was well-seasoned with subtle herbal notes, it lacked the depth I expected, and the pork ribs weren't as tender as I had hoped. The accompanying sides, such as tofu puffs and vegetables, were decent but didn't elevate the dish significantly. The overall experience was pleasant enough, but the Bak Kut Teh didn't stand out as anything special compared to other places I've tried. While Shoon Huat has its charm, I may explore other options next time.

A Bak Kut Teh restaurant in JB that is popular with Singaporeans. I’m not sure what the fuss is about really. The restaurant serves a passable Bak Kut Teh. There’s not much flavour in the soup, though admittedly, the meat is tender. The Sesame Oil Chicken lacks the flavour of sesame oil and is a tad salty.

There are other places that serve better Bak Kut Teh in JB.

There's an aircon shop unit connected to the main shop. No frills restaurant that serves reasonably priced good food fast. Many locals, as well as Singaporeans, visit this place for mild herbal bak kut teh.

Soup lack of herbal taste and too heavy on msg. Meat is more tender comparing with another famous BKT along the road. Sesame chicken similarly lack of sesame oil. Dried fried bean curds skin goes very well with the soup.
