Beautiful square especially at night when lit. You can get to mosque, Hagia Sofia, Museum, Ans many other things, as well as lots of ATMs...water fountain with drinkable water... Very lively day and night.
Go in the morning before the crowd. It is sublime. The cries of the gulls and the sea breeze as the sun climbs. Plus you can see the monuments rather than the back of someone's head.

My first impression was that it was extremely clean and green - despite the huge crowds of people. The columns of ancient Constantinople are very impressive. It would be good to have more explanatory signs.
Amidst all the great places nearby, this area is vibrant and bustling, with many food carts offering simits, corn, and chestnuts. There are also very nice seating areas and shaded spots, perfect for enjoying a quick snack or relaxing with friends. The atmosphere becomes even more enchanting at night, with soft lighting and fewer crowds, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely evening stroll.
Pretty crowded, but very beautiful. For me, Sultanahmet Square is a must-visit for anyone exploring Istanbul. This historic square, once a Roman hippodrome, is the heart of the city's old town and provides a lovely view of two of the most famous buildings in the world (Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia).
