This is a major tourist attraction in the Capital City of Portugal, Lisbon. It is always crowded with hundreds of people all trying to get the best picture of the arch. Great place to relax and get some drinks or lunch at any of the close by restaurants.
Beautiful monument a must visit. A busy place with lot of tourists. Evenings are more beautiful with the cool breeze blowing from the waterfront.
Visiting the Arco do Triunfo in Lisbon is an experience well worth it. This monument, with its stunning architecture and panoramic view of the city and the Tagus River, offers a unique perspective on Lisbon's history and beauty.
This is a huge arch structure made of stone located in the north side of the Praça do Comércio. It was built to commemorate the city's reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. It is huge, but looks very harmonious with Comercio plaza. Furthermore, thru the arch you can directly see the straight Augusta street whose view is really beautiful what you have to enjoy(You can see this amazing arch when you are anywhere in the Augusta street.)
But when I visited it was closed for some reason (and don’t know when to re-open).It seems they are not that kind enough to give tourists sufficient information for attraction spots. However, this arch is a must visit place along with Praca do Comercio.

Very impressive monument. It's one of those places that everyone wants to go to take a picture and on to the next place but I would still recommend it. The architecture is beautiful and there's a little market where people are selling some local art.
€4.50 pp. Superb view over Lisbon. Access from Rua Augusta, on the left as you look at the 'back' of the arch. Lift to the internal top of the arch, but two sets of sets of very narrow steps (25 & 46 steps) to the top of the structure and the views over the city. Follow the light system - when you get a green light, go up/down but do not go until you get the light, as the steps are VERY narrow and no option to pass.
How cool this was. We took the lift to the top. There are a few stairs, but the view is amazing from the top. Not that many people know about it but it's a must to get your perspective of the city.
