During the Arab occupation, it was used as a quarry for materials, when they reformed the Alcazaba , at the foot of which it is located.
In it, three zones are perfectly distinguished : the living room, with a radius of 31 meters, with a semicircular floor plan. The orchestra, between the stands and the stage, where the important people of the city were. And the foreground or the wooden parquet.

Beautiful site, impressive and imposing with a fascinating history. Very reasonable entrance fee ( free on Sunday afternoon, check the website for details )
No queue, free to entry. There is a little museum before entering the theatre that elxplains a little bit of its history. Relatively fast visit.

Good to catch some sun and a breather for free. Comfortable stone seating area to read, chat or just look at the teatro history. It is the perfect weather now in the spring.
This is a tiny theatre, but very well kept. Its restored and there is still some minor excavations now and then. The amphitheatre is quite underwhelming if you expect a Colusseum, so adjust your expectations. Free to enter and a complete walkthrough will take 10 minutes. Advicable to take this together with the Alcazaba castle. Last entrance is 17:15.
The history of the theater dates back to the 1st century before and the times of Emperor Augustus. It was used until the 3rd century AD and when the Moors came, it was regularly dismantled and used to build the Alcazaba fortless. So many centuries and we can still step on the stones and admire what remains. Still fascinating.
