A very sweet, cute, quiet walk in the park. We wanted to walk but be in a place where locals would go for a walk. It was beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. The audio tour is in multiple languages and really great. The rooms are beautiful and the history is very interesting. There is no photography inside the palace. They were renovating the Abbey as we were there. The gardens are beautiful. It is a working palace and so it won't be open to public in june/July when the king is visiting.
Had a lovely day at the castle.
It was very interesting and easy to follow the audio guide which was clear and easy to hear.
It is on ancient volcano so it is very steep in places.
We went on a Sunday the 1pm gun shot is not fired on a Sunday so if you want to witness the gun being fired don't go on a Sunday

Hard work to get to the top but views were amazing and the weather was perfect for this walk! Still achy the next day and we did the shorter walk haha. We had a lot of fun here and recommend it greatly as the rock formation is stunning and the views as well!
We definitely enjoyed our visit to Edinburgh castle. Our guide was personable, informative and kind. The castle is so full of history and beauty that I feel it’s impossible to capture it all in one visit. Highly recommend visiting it. The views you get if the city are breathtaking.
This was a great visit. The included audio tour is very well done and keeps you interested. The location is spectacular. A must visit in Edinburgh.

Amazing scenery, great walk and sense of freedom and nature despite being pretty much within the main city. Multiple ways to walk - you can take a steeper route straight toward the top or take your time around the flatter more winding paths. Incredible views all the way across Edinburgh and the North Sea. Friendly respectful people walking too with many dogs. This area uplifts the city to upper echelons of greatness. (so good that I was no longer angry I got charged £5 for an ice cream with a flake at the ice cream van!)

So I managed to get to the top - despite the windy weather. Fantastic views. Do on a dry day but note it can be busy: worse than Everest base camp 🤣. Id suggest attempting the ascent from Duddingston (SE). There's steps part way up and it's less busy. Great cafe in Duddingston Church Yard/Dr Neil's Garden
War ganz interessant. Karten sollte man im Vorfeld buchen. Mir hat es sehr gefallen.
Arthur's Seat is a wonderful hike in the middle of the city. The associated park is expansive and accessible. It took us less than an hour to get to the top, and views were well worth the exertion. It's a pretty steep incline, and weather can be windy and unpredictable. So plan well with good shoes and appropriate clothing. Also budget some time to visit the other parts of the park. Such a great experience!
Cool palace! The headset provided with an entry ticket has a lot of features and information. The tour is worth the price. The gardens are gorgeous!

Great castle, although a bit busy and a huge line when you want to see the crown jewels. There are many military exhibitions and the castle has many cool aspects you can visit. Buying tickets in advance online is recommended as you get a discount and can reserve a date + time. The views from the castle are amazing as it is on top of a hill. However, that could also be the downside as there are some slopes to conquer and many stairs to deal with.

Amazing piece of history, with a great view.
I would recommend spending at least 2 hours inside, exploring and reading up all about the castle's history.
Buying tickets online beforehand is also a great opportunity to skip lines and gain time.
Went without audioguides which I regret so I would recommend renting some.
Beautiful castle where I easily could have spent more time. History reveals itself with each step you take. Great view of the city and the surrounding areas. Plenty of photo opportunities. I do recommend booking entrance time in advance, cause it selles out fast.
"Modest" palace set against the backdrop of Arthur's seat, making it gorgeous on a sunny day. The palace rooms are nice and there's an audio/video tour included in the 22 pound price. The tour device has pictures as well, which is a nice innovation. Members of the royal family provide some stories.

I actually liked the perfectly manicured gardens more than the interiors.

Small discount if you buy tickets online at least the day before.

Nice tea room out the front, before you buy a ticket.
The Castle is amazing. The history, the buildings, and the views are all so cool. I chose to get the printed guide (so I could better stay present with the experience) and stop and read and look and read and to read after I left. It worked for me.
For complete disclosure: lots of stairs, climbing, cobblestones, etc so you should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared that you might not get to everything.
The line to view the crown jewels was long, but it moved quickly (and, of course, I was able to read my guide while waiting).
Don't just take pictures of the Castle from the street--go explore it.
Highly recommended for Harry Potter fans and history nerds. The church is the starting point for some modern religious movements and memorial spot for Bobby, a loyal police dog. The cemetery is full of names of important figures which inspired the name of the characters in Harry Potter series. I spotted Potter, Black, McGonnagal, Tom Riddel, Elizabeth Moodie, and more❤️
Booked the early before opening tour of the castle and after seeing the crowds once it opens I would highly recommend. The peace and serenity of being inside the castle walls and roaming around to learn about the change over time was a once in a lifetime experience. We went in middle of April and weather was pretty cold and windy so plan to wear something you will feel comfortable being outside in for a few hours.
It's an interesting place for Harry Potter fans. It's a beautiful functioning church with a big cemetery. This is where JK Rowling got the inspiration for several names in the "Harry Potter" series.Names like McGonagall, Potter, Thomas Riddell and several others can be found here. There is a constant flow of tourists, who came to visit this place on their own and also oganised groups. Everything is very well organised but you need to look carefully to find the gravestones.
Great place for a walk with nice views of Edinburgh
Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh is a serene graveyard surrounding the historic Greyfriars Kirk. With its tranquil garden, iconic dog statue honoring Greyfriars Bobby, and historic gravestones, it offers visitors a peaceful retreat steeped in history and folklore. Greyfriars Kirkyard also holds a special connection to the Harry Potter series, as it is said to have inspired the names of several characters
The place hasn't been taken care very well. For one who loves trail may be love this place. The path to the tower is not very clear. You need a Google map to go to this place.
Open to all, frequently visited, touristic attraction, especially because of the names that inspired some character names in Harry Potter.

If you walk into the Kirk you will have a lovely visit as well. Beautiful in the inside!

In front if the kirk there is a monument for Bobby the dog, who stayed by his passed away owner's grave for 14 years!
A real gem that is forgotten by many tourists and visitors to Edinburgh. A bit of a climb so not accessible for all but realistically it is nothing too difficult. Once at the top the views are excellent. One of my favourite places in the city.
I absolutely LOVED this royal residence! What an amazing place to explore Scottish history. Make sure to grab the audio tour as it is very informative. Then, make sure to go out back to the gardens and the Abbey ruins - STUNNING!!! The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the ruins are. While we had no trouble walking up and getting tickets, we were there in the off season, and the summer is LOADED with tourists.

The castle was STUNNING! The views of the surrounding area are worth the walk up. I highly recommend taking the guided tour through the castle guides; it costs a few more pounds but is worth it. I also HIGHLY recommend booking long in advance especially if you're coming in the summer - while we were there in the "off" season, our guide said the summer is insane. In addition, DON'T walk up the stairs to get to the castle, just walk up the Royal Mile. Plan to spend most of the day there as there is SO much to see at the castle. Get ready to enjoy some spectacular history!

I did not have the time to visit inside the church, but you do have a great view around. It is also a bit creepy with the dark sky as it still remains a cemetery.
Worth watching Disney movie about Greyfriars Bobby and the Harry Potter books and movies. Also father of modern geology James Hutton is buried here.

Absolutely fantastic locale. For anyone interested in the history of the place, I don't normally recommend tours but for this they'll fill you in on little details you maybe never read about previously. Like for example, STAY ON THE PATHS, there are about 700 headstones here but records show of over 250,000 bodies poorly buried on site. A few weeks back an entire human skull came to the surface...

I would recommend going once in the day and then also again at night. If your lucky you can get some pictures that are out of this world. Also, that's when the atmosphere really SHINES. It's pretty spooky 😲
I went with a hiking group.

We took the easiest trail from Holyrood car park.

It's an easy, fast, and picturesque hike.
The views are exquisite. Imagine how much more spectacular it'd have been if we'd gone in summer!

The lake you see from the aerial view is the lake by the car park, also in the pictures.
There was a place at the start of the trail which looked like an ancient dungeon, but I didn't check it out.

There's a picturesque ruins made of four columns about a few hundred metres in.

There were wee one who ran all the way up, and middle-aged women like me who took our time.

It's roughly a kilometre and a bit either way, so total distance is less than 3 kilometres.
From my tracker, the elevation was a wee 203 metres.

I had a great time (although I slipped off some smooth rocks at the summit and fell hard).

It seems a popular hike though, as the trail was teeming with people. Weekend parking is free and so is the hike.
Sehr interessante, historische Attraktion. Trotzdem toll!

A must-see .... I recently had the pleasure of climbing Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano that crowns the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Views Worth Every Step: The panoramic views are amazing. You’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the city, the coastline, and the surrounding landscape.

Fitness Required: The path up to Arthur’s Seat is an adventure in itself. It’s rocky, undulating, and occasionally steep. If you’re in good physical condition, you’ll relish the challenge. However, if you’re not an avid hiker, take your time and enjoy the journey. There are plenty of spots to catch your breath and soak in the scenery.
Windy Conditions: On the day of our visit, the wind was quite spirited. Hold onto your hat (literally!) and be prepared for blustery conditions.

A fun little tour. No photography allowed, however. (I was told off even from taking a picture of my audio guide, which I thought didn’t make sense.) The gift shop is surprisingly lovely.
Would highly recommend visiting the palace to learn more deeply about the British monarchy and history in general. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the palace and was quite intrigued hearing history with the help of the audio. Every hall/room has a history to it so it was quite interesting.
The palace was definitely the historic place I enjoyed the most. If you want, by the end of the tour, you can ask the staff to stamp your ticket by treating it as a donation. This will mean that you can visit the palace free for 1 year.

Went there as a part of charity fundraising group, views were amazing, quite a nice and easy climb, can be slippery at times as the stones on the path are nearly flat. Ensure you have good shoes. Also prepare for a wind at the top
Thank you Talia for the interesting tour.
Everywhere you turn there is history and fascinating stories about the ancient Scottish stronghold that even pre-dates Roman times in the U.K. Easily spend a whole day here and stake out your spot early for the traditional, daily, very punctual 1 PM gun (cannon) salute. Lots of steps and steep inclines, so wear your good walking shoes. Admission is about $25 US and there are cafes and gift shops on site. Bring a jacket or sweater, umbrella too, it is Scotland after all, and you are up on the highest ground of all Edinburgh. Make sure to see the Scotland Crown Jewels while there and the Great Hall and all of the cannons too. Well worth the visit. The place is amazing.
Also wenn man was nachlesen will, sollte man dies am gleichen Tag machen.

Zudem gibt es verschiedene Touren.

Great historical place with lot of attractions. City view from the top is awesome.
One must buy tickets in advance to avoid unnecessary waiting time. It is available online. They have good arrangements for disabled guests including car pick-up from the entrance to the top of the castle. They have a seperate lift disabled guests for going to see crown jewel.
Interessant was man da sieht, man darf allerdings nicht zu viel erwarten. Haben nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt sehen dürfen
Keine Bilder erlaubt.
Lovely big reserve, perfect for picnics and dog walks (one big loop). Loads of beautiful deer and wildlife as well, has good views on a clear day and has rocks to climb up amongst the forest
Monumento molto evocativo e suggestivo.
XD XD
