The National Museum of the American Indian in NYC is a cultural gem with a fascinating history of its own. Housed in the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, this museum beautifully blends architecture and heritage. The Beaux-Arts building itself, completed in 1907, is a masterpiece, adorned with intricate details and a grand rotunda. The museum's exhibitions, showcasing the rich and diverse cultures of Native peoples, are equally captivating. It's a five-star destination that not only educates but also inspires, both through its exhibits and the architectural grandeur that houses them. A must-visit for history buffs and culture enthusiasts alike.
This museum is free! There is no wait to go in. We found a great exhibit about Shelley Niro and now she is my new favorite artist please check that exhibit is not going to disappoint you.
They have an extensive collection of artifacts from different cultures around the world. Another interesting exhibit is the history of the Natives of New York! You may find some inspiration!
In the gift shop they have a lot of options specially the beautiful jewelry!
This is a great museum. I would highly recommend it. In particular, the activist of New York was an amazing exhibition that really stood out to me as something that was different and well structured. It was easy to go through each section and understand what the point of view was where it came from. What changed over time? The video as well on the ground floor was unbelievably. Interesting to see how New York has changed over time, where it started and that where it's going and overall a good museum where you can jump between the different sections and easily find your way
A very cool museum, definitely worth a visit. It’s pay what you feel admission, but the recommended is $20 per adult but free if you have ID NYC cards. Some of the exhibitions are amazing. We really love the activist room and definitely spent more time then we should’ve. The top floor has the century exhibition which is nice but the other exhibits were more interesting in my opinion. There’s a cafe too
This is an amazing museum to visit. The place has so many halls and attractions. I was thrilled to see a huge collection of paintings, glasswork, cutlery sets, furniture and many more areas in the museum which showcases the vast culture of various parts of the world.
The place where they have recreated the Egyptian Culture is totally amazing. It almost brings you back to the era of Egyptian civilization. This is a must go place for everyone whether you are in college, school or a working professional.
Beautiful museum. NY residents can enter for free with an option to give a donation. They have an extensive collection and they are always having special exhibits when certain things are on rotation for viewing. I love the Egyptian room, the Chinese tea garden, the European armory, the Japanese swords. You can take great photos in the museums and it’s really beautiful. Outside the museum people are sitting on the steps and there’s someone playing an instrument. There’s also a museum shop full of things to buy.
Beautiful museum! So much to learn about! Amazing to see part of these 5000 years of global history and art regrouped in a single place.
I loved the Greek & Roman Art, and I was specially moved by the "Artists of the Holocaust" exhibition (April - Sept 2023). One can also learn more about the American art (American Wing). All the exhibitions are tempting, and one day is certainly not enough to visit it all fully!
Besides the exhibitions, the Museum itself is beautiful, spacious, clean & the staff is more than friendly to share recommendations and tips.
Loved this visit, a must to everyone passing by NY!

Fun, compact, entertaining museum for families. It's not a huge museum, so is definitely not a multi-hour affair. But it's an interesting idea and well designed for the space. It became very busy during our stay.
Very amazing! Lots of illusions that trick your mind! Can be confusing and headache inducing, but your mind will be blown away! I recommend checking out as soon as possible!
Surreal!
Love love love. This museum has the most comprehensive collections of the ancient artworks in the US. A must go if you’re an ancient culture lover. Best tips are to get tickets online ahead of time to skip the waiting line, enter at its opening and leave until it closes. It’s a full day museum. There’s no way you can complete a tour in a few hours. So better bring a phone bank if your phone does not last a full day. So many pictures you’d want to take.
There’s a place for everything, and this place is for sure not one I would go to again for a good theatre experience. I arrived 20 minutes late due to an emergency at my apartment, leaving the locksmith still there trying to fix it. The ticket DID NOT say there is no late seating, however, I was still refused seating. When you don’t have late seating, you need to communicate that to the audience, and communicate it LOUD and CLEAR as all other theatre venues typically do. And don’t have a senior house manager with a serious passive aggressive attitude running the show. What a waste of time and money, and to think I had paid them money for front area seating.
Visited here a couple weeks back after not coming for years. Love finding how many pieces I am familiar with all around the museum. Also love the blend of art and architecture on display. Definitely block out a number of hours if you want to see a lot of the museum
This museum is located by the Hudson River near the entrance to the Highline trail. It has traditional art from well known artists as well as contemporary works from new and emerging artists. There is artwork outside on upper levels with beautiful views of the NY skyline.

Zdecydowanie polecamy.....
I had an outstanding time exploring the Whitney Museum of American Art! This cutting-edge museum showcases some of the finest contemporary and modern American art I've ever seen. Located in the vibrant Meatpacking District, the building itself is a bold architectural statement that sets the tone for the dynamic exhibitions inside.

As I wandered through the galleries, I was captivated by the diverse array of works, from innovative paintings and thought-provoking sculptures to engaging multimedia installations. The museum does a stellar job of showcasing both established and up-and-coming artists, celebrating the spirit of creativity and artistic expression.

The staff was knowledgeable, approachable, and eager to share insights on the various exhibitions. I also appreciated the stunning views of the city from the outdoor terraces – a perfect spot to take a break and soak in the Manhattan skyline.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. 10/10, an unforgettable experience that will leave you inspired and hungry for more!
