An art museum with a rich and intriguing collection spanning modern to contemporary art. Some exhibit areas are under renovation, but there are still plenty of impressive artworks on display. Make sure to leave some time for the upstairs exhibits; they're worth it. It can be quite chilly inside, so consider wearing a jacket.

The museum shop has a wide variety of items, including some not found online, so be sure to check it out if you find something you like.

Really cute museum! Great views of lower Manhattan, too. Free for students from certain colleges, inexpensive for everyone else. They had really interesting art pieces that actually had meaning. I enjoyed my trip.

This is an amazing museum to visit. The place has so many halls and attractions. I was thrilled to see a huge collection of paintings, glasswork, cutlery sets, furniture and many more areas in the museum which showcases the vast culture of various parts of the world.
The place where they have recreated the Egyptian Culture is totally amazing. It almost brings you back to the era of Egyptian civilization. This is a must go place for everyone whether you are in college, school or a working professional.
Beautiful museum. NY residents can enter for free with an option to give a donation. They have an extensive collection and they are always having special exhibits when certain things are on rotation for viewing. I love the Egyptian room, the Chinese tea garden, the European armory, the Japanese swords. You can take great photos in the museums and it’s really beautiful. Outside the museum people are sitting on the steps and there’s someone playing an instrument. There’s also a museum shop full of things to buy.
It was an incredibly stunning building. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. The elevator was astounding with its impressive lighting, making it feel like something out of the Matrix. The balloon mirror room was also very impressive. I was amazed at how well this building must have been constructed. The cost is in the $40's for adults without food options and in the $60's with lunch/dinner included per person. I highly recommend it; it's worth every penny.
Beautiful museum! So much to learn about! Amazing to see part of these 5000 years of global history and art regrouped in a single place.
I loved the Greek & Roman Art, and I was specially moved by the "Artists of the Holocaust" exhibition (April - Sept 2023). One can also learn more about the American art (American Wing). All the exhibitions are tempting, and one day is certainly not enough to visit it all fully!
Besides the exhibitions, the Museum itself is beautiful, spacious, clean & the staff is more than friendly to share recommendations and tips.
Loved this visit, a must to everyone passing by NY!

I recommend booking in advance because if you want buy day of it’s all time dependent.

We went right before sunset and it was quite busy as people wanted to sit around and watch the sunset. Downside is that I wished they didn’t allow too many people in or ask people to not just sit in front of the windows to allow others to take look or take photos. As it was getting closer to sunset time lots of people would sit and crowd around the windows.

But I really enjoyed the interactive rooms and how you can explore the different stages. Lots of fun and I think it’s worth the time to check out at least once when you’re in NYC as you can see so much.

I enjoyed the “finished line” where it was an outdoor roof top bar/space.
Visited in August, 2023. I've most of the high-rise views in NYC. While they all are excellent, the Summit One in the Vanderbilt Building is my favorite. My family of four went in the early evening on a clear day. The views outside are breathtaking and the several viewing areas inside are excellent. There are lots of mirrored surfaces and all glass exterior walls that make dramatic effects. If you go during the daytime, bring your own sunglasses or use the ones that are provided. Inside the observation area is a bar and semi-restaurant lounging area. There is also an outdoor open air area where you can feel the air up high. If you are going to NYC and haven't visited the Summit One, you need to put it on your list. It is in high demand, so buy your tickets in advance and show up a little early for your appointment time. Spend as much time as you can in the observation area. You will have a blast!

Fun, compact, entertaining museum for families. It's not a huge museum, so is definitely not a multi-hour affair. But it's an interesting idea and well designed for the space. It became very busy during our stay.
Very amazing! Lots of illusions that trick your mind! Can be confusing and headache inducing, but your mind will be blown away! I recommend checking out as soon as possible!
Surreal!
Love love love. This museum has the most comprehensive collections of the ancient artworks in the US. A must go if you’re an ancient culture lover. Best tips are to get tickets online ahead of time to skip the waiting line, enter at its opening and leave until it closes. It’s a full day museum. There’s no way you can complete a tour in a few hours. So better bring a phone bank if your phone does not last a full day. So many pictures you’d want to take.
There’s a place for everything, and this place is for sure not one I would go to again for a good theatre experience. I arrived 20 minutes late due to an emergency at my apartment, leaving the locksmith still there trying to fix it. The ticket DID NOT say there is no late seating, however, I was still refused seating. When you don’t have late seating, you need to communicate that to the audience, and communicate it LOUD and CLEAR as all other theatre venues typically do. And don’t have a senior house manager with a serious passive aggressive attitude running the show. What a waste of time and money, and to think I had paid them money for front area seating.
Visited here a couple weeks back after not coming for years. Love finding how many pieces I am familiar with all around the museum. Also love the blend of art and architecture on display. Definitely block out a number of hours if you want to see a lot of the museum
This museum is located by the Hudson River near the entrance to the Highline trail. It has traditional art from well known artists as well as contemporary works from new and emerging artists. There is artwork outside on upper levels with beautiful views of the NY skyline.

I had an outstanding time exploring the Whitney Museum of American Art! This cutting-edge museum showcases some of the finest contemporary and modern American art I've ever seen. Located in the vibrant Meatpacking District, the building itself is a bold architectural statement that sets the tone for the dynamic exhibitions inside.

As I wandered through the galleries, I was captivated by the diverse array of works, from innovative paintings and thought-provoking sculptures to engaging multimedia installations. The museum does a stellar job of showcasing both established and up-and-coming artists, celebrating the spirit of creativity and artistic expression.

The staff was knowledgeable, approachable, and eager to share insights on the various exhibitions. I also appreciated the stunning views of the city from the outdoor terraces – a perfect spot to take a break and soak in the Manhattan skyline.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. 10/10, an unforgettable experience that will leave you inspired and hungry for more!
