Only 3 stars because of the crowd! It's a really beautiful castle we have to admit it but during high season, the tourists are very numerous which kinda ruins the experience there. I didn't visit the castle but the park was pretty. It's well indicated and not too far from the palace

Great view! Just arrange your trip ahead, and if you don't buy your tickets online before, you might end up getting available time to visit inside the castle so late that like us decide to not do it! Visiting outside of the castle is always possible. I took a star because I expected such a place to have a much better restaurant. At least they should have French fries or Margarita... That children eat easily. But unfortunately Not!

Beautiful old buildings and artefacts. Entry includes the church with gold leaf covered intricate wooden carvings, as well as the adjoining building which includes a chapel with beautiful painted ceiling, displays of artefacts and catacombs below.
There are also items for sale including cute little monk statues.
There is a toilet near the ticket desk (ask at the desk).

Beautiful palace with impressive park and caves, we were short in time and spent there around 1h but that was pretty enough (didn’t go inside the main castle though). There is a line by the entrance so buy tickets online. Another line is to see the Initiation Well - it moves very fast, but note that you won’t have time to stay inside, park guards are making sure the crowd flows non-stop.

A beautiful stop when visiting Sintra. Make sure to line up for the initiation well. The gardens are stunning. Allow for 2.5-3 hours to completely experience everything . The cafe restaurant is very good

What a magical place! Feels like a fantasy. Would really recommend coming here for a quiet and relaxed visiting experience over the other sights in the Sintra area! Be sure to book tickets in advance and either take a taxi or Uber there from Sintra as it is quite far out.

Amazing palace. Unfortunately we had to wait over 3 hrs after we bought our tickets. On top comes the waiting time until the purchase of the tickets. Very good is the support of handycaped people like me. The entrance fee was drastically reduced. Thank you!

You can't pay for just the church. You have to buy the package with the museum (not interesting)

If you're interested in religion or history definitely pay the one extra Euro for the information folder!

This place is beautiful and open to the public, there are some government offices inside the building. A must go if you visit Seville.

This is the most surreal,lush, gorgeous place ever!!! So many nooks to walk through is the most beautiful forest terrain. I really can't think of a more beautiful castle with these grounds in recent memory. Plan to spend a few hours just to walk these breathtaking pathways. Don't pass up the well either. The line looks crazy long and we waited 25 minutes for one of the coolest descents ever. Love love love this place!

Amazing museum, and to my surprise it is FREE to everyone on Sunday afternoons which is when I went. The main exhibit (which is a collection of smaller exhibits) is not very large, you can go through everything at a leisurely pace and finish in ~1.5hrs, but they have some very nice pieces, Rembrandt and Monet included among others.

My only feedback is that they need to work on their lighting for some paintings; the light was so close to the piece sometimes that there was too much glare reflected off the painting to see the details accurately.

Bit of a challenge finding the entrance. Ignore the signs and just make for the north of the park. Well laid out exhibits. Takes about an hour to go around. Bit of an eclectic mixture art from eras and parts of the world. A nice rest from the heat and steep walks around Lisbon. Very peaceful setting. Nice coffee shop on lower floor.

This is genuinely one of the most incredible places I’ve visited. For 12 euros you get access to the main building which is a is a work of art and the surrounding grounds, initiation well, the grotto and waterfall make. this is a genuinely unmissable stop on a trip to Sintra.

You will most likely have a bit of a wait to get into the initiation well but it is ‘well’ worth the wait…… other than that i honestly have nothing negative to say.

With this palace you have the option to visit just the gardens (without a time slot) and gardens + interior (the second one with a time slot).
We took the 24hs unlimited hop on/hop off bus and got off at the entrance of the palace. There’s a shuttle available that will drive you up and down for 3 euros. Otherwise you can go up on foot (20-30min each way).
Once you are up there, the gardens and palace surroundings are really easy to explore. There’s quite a lot of people at all times so be prepared for that!
The palace is beautiful with so many colours and details. It’s amazing to look at it and think of how much time and effort must have been put into building it.
The views from the castle are also amazing!
We didn’t visit the inside as apparently it’s just the preserved rooms showing the richness and the way the lived, which we were not so interest in (plus the only available time slot was 5pm and we wanted to visit the palace in the morning).
Buying tickets with time is essential!

They also have a photo opportunity and the pictures are nice, esp the fun ver they suggested you to do, and it is not very expensive even to purchase the printed version!

Beautiful place! You feel like in some kind of fairytale. The nature around and the architecture are stunning. It’s also very comfortable that there is a bus station not far from it, in case you don’t want to use the taxi.

The initiation well is a popular Instagram spot, but this place has so much more! The well had a line to get in, but it was probably only about a 15 minute wait. The rest of the gardens had several structures, fountains, a cave grotto, and beautiful plants. The mansion had nicely decorated rooms and information signs explaining the history of the place. We spent two and a half hours here moving at a relatively slow pace, and still didn’t even see the top corner of the gardens. They also have bathrooms and a cafe for anyone interested.

Nice church, especially at night, when you go for the light show. It is beautiful, even though some of the animation could be a bit better, the colours were vivid and it was a very nice show

Outstanding museum! Such a variety of priceless objects. The best thing we’ve done in Lisbon. Cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are interested in art & culture, you’ll absolutely love it!

Pena Palace was so beautiful. It is stuffed with the most fantastic collection of treasures. The royal apartments are well worth a visit. Our tour guide took us via the gardens which a lot of people miss out but they were really lovely and the Queens view point gives a great glimpse of Pena Palace before you venture inside. It was busy but entry inside is controlled so it was quieter and you could have a good look at everything. Pena Palace is a must when in Portugal.

A cool place and a great place, a must visit for every tourist, the price is adequate, and if you are a student under 25 years old, it is very cheap, the visit is worth it. You will love the interior of the church. Magnificent wood carvings, gilding, statues and much more .Be sure to pay attention to the image of the genealogical tree of Jesus Christ, created in 1721. You can visit the catacombs of the temple - there is a necropolis - old burials and more statues of Jesus Christ. You can also find a window in the floor of the catacombs, which gives you a view of hundreds of bones, a frightening sight.

The park is very large and nice. The palace is overrated (no furniture as the owner sold all). The good thing is no queue and free parking across entrance (end of June). Steep paths to the palace and garden (a shuttle inside did not operate).

Wow, probably the most beautiful castle we have visited. The outside is definitely worth the little day trip and you can get lost for hours in the incredible gardens. I would definitely recommend to go early, our entry was at 10 am and we bought the tickets the week before and it made the process super easy. You don't spend more than 30/45 minutes and that's perfect, you'll want to spend your time in the garden and visit other sites close by.

This was my favourite church in Porto, it's covered in high Baroque gilded carving and the museum was interesting too. Definitely much more interesting than Igreja de Carmo.

Very very nice and Amazing Place

Truly amazing collection of art from old masters to modern, pottery, glass, metal, furniture, and textiles. Cafeteria offers a good variety of options, and the surrounding gardens are so peaceful and beautiful.

The place is fun to be there. Make sure you wear your sports shoes and comfortable clothes. There is a lot of walking in the nature.
The places looks like a complete city outside on a peace of greenery outside this world. It moves you back for more than 100 years to see life from their lens.
Very well maintained and clean. Well and grotto are lots of fun. Make sure you read the captions were possible to have background of every price they have built.
Parking is a bit far so prepare for a nice walk.
Entrance is 12 euros for adults credit card is available and there is a cafe there.
I would have given five stars if better road guidance on arriving there and parking were given. Without google and asking people we could not reached

Museu sobre a obra e vida de Pessoa, na casa onde ele morou os últimos anos da sua vida. Muito bem conseguido. Para quem gosta de Pessoa, a não perder.

Das Convento do Carmo ist ein ehemaliges Kloster des Karmeliter-Ordens in der portugiesischen Hauptstadt Lissabon. Es wurde in den Jahren 1389 bis 1423 auf ein Gelübde des Marschalls Nuno Álvares Pereira hin errichtet. Zum Gebäudekomplex gehört auch die Kirche Igreja do Carmo, die als ein Prachtexemplar der Lissabonner Gotik gilt. Im großen Erdbeben von Lissabon 1755 wurde das Bauwerk zerstört. Die von Königin Maria veranlasste Restaurierung kam nach der Säkularisation der Mönchsorden von 1834 ins Stocken, nachdem nur ein Flügel des Klosters wieder hergerichtet worden war. Dort befindet sich heute das Hauptquartier der portugiesischen Nationalgarde. Der Eintritt kostet 7€

Sehr schön und ruhig, habe es mir etwas grösser vorgestellt. Kinder bis 14 sind kostenfrei, unsere Teenager fanden den Sakofarg mit der Mumie am spannendsten. Drin wird auch ein Film gezeigt und bietet eine schöne Pause im kühlen Inneren.

Aside from the modern art collection being closed due to renovations (reopening in September 2024?) this museum was very enjoyable, from the art collection, the beautiful grounds, the incredibly tame ducks and the gift shop with better than the average choices. Lots of people, seemingly locals, relaxing in the grounds on blankets and towels, enjoying the spring sunshine and a book or a snack or a significant other 😊

This is the best viewing point for the city of Porto. I climbed the tower in a super rainy day and got drenched, but I still think it is worth the experience. There is the famous tram stop down the tower. Just beautiful.

Personale gentilissimo e percorso facile da fare. Il costo del biglietto(5€) è anche troppo poco per la cura del museo in generale.

This museum is free entry with the Porto card. I highly recommend getting the porto card for your time here.

The museum itself, was an enjoyable and quick visit displaying art and artifacts from the romance period.

The church has pipe organ performance at 12pm. It costs 8Euros to climb up the church tower and got a discount with the porto card. We went on a Friday late morning and it was very crowded and packed. The stairs are narrow and steep. On the way up, we had to give way to those coming down and vice versa. The worse part is the stairs get narrower as we ascend and there isn’t anybody controlling the traffic towards the top tower, only limiting the total number of people entering at the ground floor gantry. Other than the spectacular view, we were more desperate to get out as it was cramped and claustrophobic.

I would not suggest to climb the tower if it is crowded. The view at The Dom Luís I Bridge is much more beautiful.

Nice baroque style church with lovely architecture and peaceful vibes. Caught the light show at night and it was a pretty interesting and vibrant experience. All the staff were very helpful and it’s worth having a wee look while in the vincinity

What a great Art Museum! The museum is well laid out. The only negative thing I can think of is some of the descriptions of the items were very low to the floor. This was very true for the rugs. This museum has something for everybody. So if you are looking for something by Ramos, Warhol, Pollock, Ray, Picasso, or Dali you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

The church and tower sits on the top of a hill with the church in the front and the tower at the back. Entering the church is free. The church was designed by an Italian architect. The marble columns, the gilded Deco and sculptures are gorgeous. If you pay a fee to climb the tower, on the way you will get a chance to see the church from the ceiling angle, and get a closer look at the altar.

To the person who said it’s not as claustrophobic as other towers to climb, I can only assume you either are a UK size 0, or just aren’t fully aware of your surroundings. I’ve climbed plenty of Scottish castles and I found this worse personally, but that didn’t mean that I didn’t ultimately enjoy it when I reached the top, and I even got (obviously by paying for it) a fun green screen edited picture of me falling off of it (let’s assume it was a greenscreen shot anyway…)
The church is beautiful too, gorgeous pink marble (I think?) lining some of the walls and ceiling. I didn’t realise until the end of the tower and museum part that you can go into the church by itself without having to climb the tower. It was only €5 anyway for a ticket which I thought was good value, and there was lots of stuff as part of the museum aspect about the brotherhood etc.
Can also confirm that I have never seen so many Jesus’ all in one place before. I also appreciated they wanted to compare the height of this tower with the Chrysler Building (and others).
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, but just be aware there isn’t any lift up to the top of the tower.

Fantastic museum with an excellent and varied collection. The exhibits are clearly labelled and very spacious, and when we went mid-week, there weren't any crowds.

There are even a few heavy hitters, with some paintings by Monet and Renoir on display, but even without those, there are many beautiful and interesting pieces.

Sunday after 2pm, entry is free, but if that doesn't work for your schedule as it didn't for us, it was still very much worth the modest entrance fee.

Die frühere Kirche, die durch das Erdbeben in 1755 zerstört wurde, ist heute ein archäologisches Museum.

Die Ausstellung in den Überresten der einst reichen Kirche umfasst unter anderem Fundstücke der ersten Besiedlung Lissabons, Sarkophage und eine Multimedia Show.

Sehr interessant und sehenswert.

Hoch über dem Douro thront die Cathedrale Sé. Vom Vorplatz aus hat man eine tolle Übersicht über den Douro und das Portwein Viertel.

Aber auch der Besuch der Kathedrale mit ihrem prunkvollen Altarraum, dem Kreuzgang und dem Aussichtsturm lohnt sich.

Interesting museum with a lot of paintings and objects from the era. It has a nice park/garden next to it where you can find peace and beautiful views while surrounded with nature.

I just recently found out that they have a catacomb in Porto, in the Church of Saint Francis to be exact so I decided to check it out.

It was honestly better than I expected. We aren't allowed to take pictures inside the church so you're just gonna have to take my words for it: it was magnificent. The church has a lot of religious arts, a mixture of paintings and wooden sculptures. The church itself is also rich in history; once Napoleon turned it into a horse stable on his siege of Porto.

Next to the church there's a museum with a catacomb underground. The catacomb is actually larger than I expected and well kept.

Overall it's a 10€ well spent and I'd highly recommend you to visit!

Incrível! Foi maravilhoso poder conhecer a casa de Fernando Pessoa. A presença do guia foi absurda e ajudou demais. Infelizmente, não perguntamos o nome dele, mas foi espetacular, ele sabia cada detalhe e contou toda a história e vida de Fernando, conectando com os jornais, livros, quadros e quaisquer outros materiais do museu de forma perfeita. Foi lindo, fiquei muito feliz em ter ido.

A entrada era de €5 com acréscimo de €1 para ter o guia, VALE MUITO A PENA! E outro ponto é que eles não tem mais a parceria de desconto com a casa do José Saramago.

Super well put together museum about the writer. Highlights include books from his library and and his actual apartment from the last 15 years of his life. Found it all incredibly inspiring and if you enough to think about coming here, you should. Note, the gift shop was entirely empty of... anything, so don't plan to pick up your souvenir copy of the Book of Disquiet here.

Leider lohnt der Besuch bei auch hohem Eintrittsgeld aktuell aufgrund der Bauarbeiten gar nicht. Auch wirkt die archäologische Sammlung wild und planlos zusammengewürfelt.
