Fabulous small museum with great volunteers who welcome you and show you round. To be stood in the small laboratory where Fleming made his great penicillin discovery I found quite moving. It’s hard to imagine how many lives have been saved because of his and the rest of the team’s work
This museum is run by volunteers so sometimes, due to illness, the museum might be closed without any warning. When you do manage a visit, it is great. It is free. The volunteers are very friendly and enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If it wasn't for Fleming discovering Penicillin, antibiotics would not be advanced as it is today.
According to the website the museum is suppose to be open 10am-1pm Monday to Thursday. I showed up twice during these times only to find the museum closed. I would ring the buzzer at the door but no answer. The next time I am in London I won't bother trying a third time. Staff seem to have more important things to do than deal with the public.
Very interesting reproduction of alexander flemings life and work that is really well made plus with the lovely staff that explains what he has done in the laboratory where he found the peneciline. Definitely deserves a visit
Very small museum but friendly and interesting free tour. Great to see the lab where it all started!
This is a small, quiet, old school museum where volunteer guides tell you about Fleming's discovery and show you around his original lab. There is also a short film and an exhibition room to look at as well. Currently it's a bit tricky to find because of all the scaffolding around the entrance and building, but it is well worth it because the volunteers are so nice and friendly. There are a few flights of stairs to go up and down (no lift).
